Warming drawer-any lovers or haters?

Kitchen designer trying to talk me into one, not convinced I want/need one. Their main sell appears to be the balance to the overall aesthetic. If you have one what do you use it for? Apart from an expensive solution to having warmer plates?!!

If I had one I'd warm my feet in it.

Chilly today!

Proving bread and using it as a slow cooker. It is excellent

Haven't used mine yet as the kitchen isn't quite complete. I chose to get one as I used to have a double oven and microwave and would often use the top oven to keep stuff warm if it was cooked but would still use the microwave. I now have a single oven and combi microwave and got a warming drawer for when both were in use but I needed to keep my parsnips and stuffing warm!

unless you like eating cooked food off a cold plate, get one.

We’ve got one in the house we bought, I haven’t really got to grips with it as all the kitchen cooking appliances are quite complex! ( 3 ovens all digital and doing multi functions! ) They look nice Grin
I just warm the plates in the residue oven heat - the old fashioned way.

We have two to balance - two ovens so one under each. Use them all the time. Warming plates. Keeping food warm without drying out. However I do wish we had gone for the deeper ones. Quite a few of our serving dishes or bowls don't fit.

Aesthetically, they make me very happy. Never use them though. I think we can only get 6 plates in ours which isn't much use.

Our integrated microwave has a plate warming program... Plus it's a regular oven too. BIL has a warning drawer for aesthetics and it's not big enough for 6 plates....

So it could be useful, but I need to get one big enough!! Can anyone share how their setup goes? E.g single oven then microwave with warming drawer?

I have 2 Neff slide and hide ovens, one has a microwave above, the other has a warming drawer. I love it all! There is a nice symmetry. I warm plates, espresso cups, prove bread, keep food hot whilst cooking something else. Do it!!

I’ve got one and used it about 3 times in 10 years. Love the idea but it’s not deep enough for proving. I’ve warmed plates a few times but that’s about it.

Plenty of other ways to warm plates. My range cooker has a plate warming ring, and my micro wave does it too. You certainly don’t need a warming drawer to warm plates or you’re stuck with cold ones Confused

We've got warming drawer at the bottom then microwave combi then single slide and hide.

Forgot to say-I have got a malted whole meal raisin dough in there, proving as we speak! Wink

Use ours every day as cannot bear eating off a cold plate.

Got one but don't know how to use it. It's there to provide balance / symmetry between two ovens and microwave.

I have a warming drawer, it is used for proving dough, warming plates, keeping food warm and best of all letting meat rest after cooking.

Hi op

Just a quick thankyou,

Because of your post I have just realised that what I have been storing my frying pans in, is in fact
A warming draw 😩

I never thought I'd use a warming drawer, but use it daily.

I am convinced... and think two single ovens one with microwave one with warming drawer is the way forwards. Thank you mumsnet you’ve convinced me of something the designer couldn’t...

We have some ridiculously expensive combi microwave oven & grill thing which is primarily used as a microwave but was definitely worth paying the extra for the oven function as, when we do use it, it is very, very useful (e.g. cooking a fruit cake and needing to make kids tea) then we have an oven below that & then the warming drawer.

slimy is that a tall tower then? Do you have a drawer under it cupboard above? Still useful space?
