Loft conversion windows,1 big or 2 small Velux's?

So we're planning our loft conversion (dorma loft,1930's terrace).
Within the quote a large Velux is included in the sloping roof and our bed will go under this. I need to decide if 2 smaller ones would be better? The cost would be more as the extra window is £720 plus we would need to pay for a blind also. It is south facing so I'm not worried about the light aspect but I just don't want to make the wrong decision! Most loft conversion I've seen have the two slightly smaller windows.

Any advice?

I'd go for the one big personally. It will definitely let more light in and be more of a feature.

I don't know the answer to this but am raising the question - is there any difference in noise between a large one and 2 small ones? We've just had a velux fitted in a ground floor extension and it is noisy when it rains - have a friend who has said that noise on the window was the biggest thing to get used to in their loft conversion - we're in Manchester so lots of rain.

I agree 1 large one would be better for light.

I had 2 small ones! I wish I had had 2 larger ones. They don't let much light in!

We went for 1 large in loft as it fitted better with our furniture plans for the room. Kitchen extension has 2 medium and they let in more light

Large veluxes look so much better - get the largest you can afford! And the built-in blinds.

Our architect recommended two small as it spreads the light better rather then having a really light and dark area. But it depends on the shape of the room. However I'm sure if we objected we could do it however we liked. Anyway we'll find out whether we like it in about 3 months!
