Pregnancy

What is the best thing about pregnancy?

Everyone is always saying that I should enjoy the pregnancy but I am a bit at a loss what is so particularly enjoyable about this - obviously not helped by the fact that I was being sick from week 4 until week 16 before it finally eased off, only to be replaced by back pain. I am of course fascinated how my body can help to create a new person but it does feel that 9 months is a loooooooooong time.

Anyone else feeling the same? What do you enjoy the most at the moment?

I am 35 weeks, grumpy, and enjoying nothing. The best bit.........is the end!

Ugh, morning sickness sucks - I'm glad to hear that's eased off, but sorry to hear about the back pain.

For me, the best thing about being pregnant (both times) was feeling the baby wiggling around. It's kind of a secret thing between you and the baby, and I actually felt a little lonely when they were born. Which sounds very odd, but it's such a unique feeling I can't really describe it.

Hope you find things to enjoy about your pregnancy - I have to say I'm quite happy to never go through it again :-)

Am enjoying thinking that I will not have to go to work for a year, and looking forward to having another special bundle of joy to love, I like feeling kicks, otherwise there is no joy in being pregnant, I find it so stressful, uncomfortable, tiring, painful and generally horrible that there is no way I will ever do it again after this one (it is my third, first pregnancy was ok, second similar to this one)

In answer to your question: a baby at the end !

Apart from that, I always quite enjoyed feeling movements or hiccups etc, and this connected feeling of the baby being exclusively mine, all mine [evil cackle] and I do not have to share it with anybody as long as it is inside me.

Also, they are a lot easier to look after inside you than out...

The best bit for me is feeling them move about, esp when I know that it gets so much stronger (I'm only at 20 wks) it really brings it home that there's someone in there, and it's nice when other people can feel the movement so it's not just your experience.

It's easy to say to someone else to try and enjoy it cos it'll be over before you know it, but I can't believe it was 15 wks ago that I found out I was preg! But I hope you feel better soon, perhaps you'll have some adrenaline kick in in a nice way at some point, that always helps

Getting people to do things for you and taking a year off work!

I find being pregnant really hard, so yes definitely the baby at the end is the best bit. But in the mean time the things that keep me going are the wriggling inside, the scans, the license to be a bit piggy and the getting people to do things for me.

I like feeling the baby moving about, not having to worry about what I look like/weight gain (til the baby's 6 weeks anyway when DP wants me to start dieting!!) & counting down the days til I can go on maternity leave!!

With first pg I also liked having the excuse to have a nap whenever I wanted, sadly as I'm now on 2nd pg I don't get this option with DD running about!

Can't wait til I get to meet my new baby, but part of me knows that once baby is here I'll look back on pregnancy & realise how 'easy' it was in comparison!

Oh thank god, I thought I was the only one. I am 18 weeks, have survived the early days exhaustion and nausea and am theoretically going through a nice 'easy' patch but OMG I am SOOOOOO bored. I hope it will be more interesting when I start to feel baby move but at the moment I just want a glass of wine, six cups of coffee and my body back.

Dont' get me wrong, I am very excited and can't wait to meet my baby but this bit is just so very painfully dull and it seems like forever til January.

Nothing - apart from the end result that is . I'm 34 weeks and am even mightily sick of the kicking too - I'm bruised from the inside out . It can't end soon enough.

I too am perplexed at the whole "enjoy your pregnancy" thing. Maybe once the baby is born I'll understand what I was supposed to be enjoying.

I like feeling baby kick in terms of it being reassuring but I don't actually "enjoy" even that

Hope baby isn't picking up on my negative vibes!

The best thing about pregnancy is that it's not permanent. There is an end.

Still puking at 21 weeks is just no fun.

Being able to eat rediculously huge portions of the foods before hand you knew you should avoid, and have people not both staring at you because you're "feeding for two". LOVE IT. I had a large Dominios pizza to myself on Saturday and it was soooo good

Seriously, though, I love feeling him move around, especially when he responds to me or DP

I really like maternity clothes - because you are supposed to look all curvy and floaty, and because my bum looks much smaller in comparison to my uber-belly.

  1. Seeing that BFP on the stick (finally)
  2. A seat on the tube
  3. For once wanting my stomach to stick out in clothes
  4. Not having to apologies when i cant be bothered going out and socialising as everyone understands

however Im not sure these outweigh the morning sickness, exhaustion and heartburn - im counting on the little bundle at the end of the 9 months outweighing all of these negatives!

The only things I enjoyed when I was pregnant were the scans, feeling those first fluttering kicks (that were only for me and didn't feel like the baby had claws), not giving a toss about anything apart from the baby and being waited on by DP.

Sounds very much like I am not alone with not feeling so uber happy about everything pregnancy related.

What it comes to seats on the tube, I have developed murderous thoughts against those people who sit on priority seats without clearly needing them, i.e. 20 year-old men listening to their ipods while you hover there in front of them with your belly sticking out.

Have thought about wearing those 'baby on board' badges you get from TFL but think I would be even more gutted if I got ignored then...!!

Not having scorching PMS and less facial hair. Bliss.

I am now not pregnant again and can see why DH has made me pregnant three times.

A lovely pair of huge boobs for the first time ever!
And a beautiful baby at the end of it, of course.
Apart from the tender boobs and being more tired than normal, I have got off scott-free so far (20 weeks). I realise by peoples reaction (when they ask if the sickness has relented) that I must be in the minority.

Miia, its awful isn't it.... i remember practically being in tears everyday because people just looked anywhere else to avoid any sort of eye contact whilst sitting in their lovely seats..... I developed tram rage
