how possible is it to have a false negative?

this has probably been covered before.

have dc 2.7, 13 months.dc1 planned dc2 unplanned

period has gone missing.

at 8 days late i got a negative test and was so releived. now 16 days late. could first test be wrong.

dont want to waste money on another test.

feel like real shit for 2 weeks now as cant shift a cold i've got.(i'm praying thats all it is)

we used condoms since got coil removed for colsposcopy treatment. had 1 normal period bang on time. nothing since. we did start having sex ONCE (in the middle of night) and stopped to put condom on half way through. so technically we have had unprotected sex once.

yes it could. if you get another neg go to the docs - 16 days is quite a lot.

You could get a cheapo supermarket own brand one. They are about 4 quid for 2.

I got a faint positive on a sainsburys one 5 days early so they are very sensitive.

Happened to me with dc3. Knew I was pregnant before I skipped period with dc2 so when I felt normal but was late I was relaxed about it. Didn't do pos test until I was 2 weeks late then felt rather stupid for thinking there could be another explanation for being so late!

well, it was also a really really cheap tesco own brand one. makes me about its accuracy

yes it is very possible that the first test could be wrong. the first test i took with dd2 was negative.

its also possible that your period is just late because you are ill, but id still test again just incase.

ALL - how far overdue were you when you got negative? and how long before you got a positive

I was a good week overdue. I think I ovulated late - prob about day 17/18 - this was kind of confirmed by my scans as I was measuring a few days late iyswim!

think iknow answer already though.
feeling sick when eat, starving when not eating.

discharge

smoking 1, 2 cigarettes maximum and feel really sick when i do.

really tired and feel like shit (have cold that cant shift)

and does this sound really weird but at the time around when i would have conceived i was feeling really really broody. and that not like me. i really struggled with unplanned dc2 as never wanted any after traumatic birth with dc1.mentionned it on here the broodiness.

and on a diet but seem to be losing weight alot quicker than i was for past year of diet. (this happened with dc2. dropped 2 dresses sizes in first 3 months of pg. thought was just coz i'd stopped breastfeeding. then suprise i was 16 weeks)

Oh, I got a negative on those new fangled digital ones. Then a positive on a cheapo Superdrug one a few hours later

Report
Dropdeadfred · 25/09/2008 16:45

the digital ones aren't the most sensitive...but if you are that late it should still show positive if you were

took dd to doctor as she had been sticking her fingers in ear with this cold. she has ear infection. asked them what likely hood of being pg with 2 negatives. she said. probably not likely at 16days late. but not unheard of. if it still hasn't arrived in 2 weeks do another.

Could be stress or that you are run down. Mine stopped for 3 months after my father died

nothing has ever affected my period before. stress, drastic weight loss, illness. it still comes like cockwork.(except than with coil and pg)

elmoandella - my false negatives were using clear blue digital tests!

maybe it is because your cycle is resettling after having had the coil removed? or the treatment
