Mums to be Oxfordshire

Hi guys,

Any mums to be living Oxfordshire area? I'm due September and as I'm new in the area I don't know many people and no mums to be. This is my first. It would be nice to build up a friendship network.

😊

I'm near Banbury too!! So exciting! What's your due date but in September? I'm beginning of August so around a similar time (depending on when babies decide to arrive!). Xx

Oh exciting. We're all so close. Do you guys know many people here? Any of you doing NCT classes? I've been thinking about doing it with bump being our first.

We're going to NCT... Mainly to meet new people... It'll be nice to have other people who are going through the same thing at the same time! The course content may be helpful too I guess :-) (I have to say at first I was surprised by the cost of NCT but then we just went for it anyway).

Are you doing the one in Mollington or mollingford (always forget its name)?

I’m in Banbury!! due on 21st May (eeek!). I moved to banbury 7 months pregnant with my first in 2015 and didn’t know a soul. Definitely recommend NCT, as it’s been a lovely way to meet people. It’s an expensive way to make friends 😂 but lovely to go through all those first phases with people at the same time. Is the one in Banbury not running any more?

I'm going to the one in Bloxham :-) it's in June.
Ready you're brave moving when then heavily pregnant! Exciting your 2nd is due now :-)

We didn’t have much choice! We were living in abroad when I fell pregnant. Visas were going to run out at due date so needed to move back and DH find job and place for us to live. It was a bit daunting but NCT was a god send for that! Hope you meet some lovely people 😊Bloxham is great and would move there if we could afford it!

I’m near Banbury too. I’m expecting DC2 in 4 weeks.

I would recommend NCT for meeting people having a baby at the same time as you. My group was great in the early days but fizzled out once people went back to work. I joined baby groups as soon as possible at children’s centres and churches rather than classes like baby massage and baby signing as my DD wasn’t very calm! There is quite a bit going on in Banbury and surrounding area though.

Small world :-)
You guys giving birth at Horton or JR?

Report
cautiousoptimist1 · 20/04/2018 16:35

I want another water birth as I had a great experience last time so if the pool is available then I’ll go to the Horton, if not I’ll go to Chippy. Hopefully baby stays put for another 8 days so I get to term and then doesn’t stay too comfy that I need to be induced as I really want to avoid JR if I can.

I'm near Banbury, but actually in S. Warwickshire so heading to Warwick for the birth. Am signed up to the Mollington NCT too.

I think I will sign up for the classes. She said £118 for 2 Sunday's in July. I have been looking at classes for when bump arrives around Banbury but haven't found much.
Do JR have a birthing pool?

Cautious, how come you want to avoid JR?

Pretty sure Mollington was more expensive than that, but mine are two Sunday's in August as EDD is end Sept. I was interested in pregnancy yoga and classes locally but can't find anything at the weekends!

MrsCaecilius · 20/04/2018 18:02

I'm also avoiding JR, hence Warwick as it should have a MLU on site by then too!

The price was from the helpline so I wonder if there is a bit of a difference if I look online.

What's the issue with JR then?

I would have wanted MLU at Horton and don't fancy the blue light transfer with dreadful traffic to JR. I've also heard negative things Bingwa about how busy it is as they are centralising all Oxon maternity there, as Sept is the busiest month, that totally put me off.
