Could be pregnant with 10 week old baby

Hi. DS is 10 weeks and I could be pregnant again now which would make me and my partner so happy as we would love two children close together in age. However, I am concerned about telling my family if I am. We haven't used protection since birth and it's only now I am showing signs I am panicking about how my family will take the news. Just need some advice and consoling tbh

Do a test first, worry about family after

Sod any disapproving relatives, if you and DH are happy that’s all that matters.

Have POAS yet?

Does it matter what they think? There are only 11 months between me and my brother, my mum never mentioned anyone being funny about it

Agree that maybe you should find out whether you're pregnant before worrying about telling people.

Thank you. I am doing a test next Wednesday if I don't come on. I've had a few signs like an aversion to meat, lactating again after 7 weeks of 'drying up', tender breasts and feeling nautious but for all I know these could be post partum symptoms

Why do people still "think they might be" pregnant in this day and age, when it's just a question of peeing on a stick?
And if you're grownup enough to have children, you shouldn't be panicking at what your family might say Hmm

You're a week away from doing a test??!

Well I'm.not sure if my last period was a real one because it only lasted a day and apparently post partum it normally lasts a few and my last pregnancy I had a day period after conception. I'm due again Wed based on a 28 day cycle and it's more accurate the closer to your period date right?

If you're pregnant enough to cause symptoms you're pregnant enough to test, surely?

Some parents/siblings are hugely judgemental though, so some people learn to be uneasy about the simplest of things that really shouldn’t be an issue.

My MIL, fe, was very off when DH and I both said we didn’t plan to have more DC after our twins were born and tried to lecture us about not breeding enough.

Wow twins! Congratulations.
And I'm not sure. Only ever done one test before and that was in January when id definitely missed a period. I've just reread the pack and I can take the test 5 days before my missed period so could take it tomorrow if I want to

Unless you live with your family I cant see why it should matter what they think.

You havent been using protection so a second pregnancy cant be much of a surpris

If you're a week away from your period then if you were pregnant implantation would only just be happening now, so there's no way you'd already be experiencing strong symptoms like that, sorry. You may or may not be pregnant, but it's too soon to tell from your body, and I would guess those things are much more likely to be about postpartum hormone changes than anything else. I've never had a baby but my understanding is also that most women don't find they go straight back to a regular cycle this early?

If you’re experiencing strong symptoms then you’re more than a few days pregnant...

Why do you want advice and consoling when you have been actively trying to get pregnant? Confused

It depends on your situation. If you are dependant on your family financially, for housing, childcare etc then they may well have an opinion to express.

If however you have the financial, practical and emotional means to support two babies, then the family can button it.

Do the test. If you are pregnant then simply present it to the family as "We are thrilled that we are having another one so soon. We always wanted a very small age gap so are really looking forward to this new baby".

Firstly to those saying the OP doesn't need advice or a virtual cuddle because she's been trying... my husband and I were TTC number 2 for three years and when I found out I was pregnant I was petrified and thought "oh god, everything is going to change!"- it was a few days before I thought "Yay!" Smile

OP, I agree you need to do a test- if the symptoms are pregnancy the test will show and if it's negative it's probably just sign of body adjusting. I found that I'd forgotten a lot of AF symptoms after nearly a year off and they are similar to early pregnancy symptoms (which for most people with a ten week old is rather alarming Wink)

You can't be five days away from a missed period, op... If you're not due for another week, you haven't "missed" anything. Do you actually understand how this stuff works??

Report
LisaSimpsonsbff · 07/12/2017 13:09

I think that's a bit (and unnecessarily) harsh, greyhound. She clearly means 'five days from when a period would be missed', ie four days before the period is due. Which the terminology they use on the packets, so it's not surprising that people also say that.

Thank you for all the wonderful advice. I took a clear blue test 3 days before my period during day (greyhound) and it was a digital one and said not pregnant.
When I still didn't come on today I took three tests which all said pregnant 😁 including a how many weeks one that said I'm 3-4 weeks.

Schnade- I wanted advice because my family are a very complicated bunch who don't always react how I'd like to things. However after actually seeing it is real and my partner's massive smile I don't think I have anything to worry about. We are both so pleased.

Can I also note that if people don't have anything supportive or nice today- why bother posting? All it does is upset people.
