What pram???

HAGI12 · 22/11/2017 16:40

Need some advice... so many to choose from 😱
I like the idea of having one that the car seat attaches too but again no idea if it’s worth it.
Maybe one that has lots of different attachments so it will last?? Am I wasting money spending a lot?
What pram are you guys buying??

I got the mamas and papas ocarro - not in use yet though so can’t comment on that
The full travel system with isofix is £580 just now for Black Friday - £900 is the usual price so a good saving

It was either that or the silver cross one as we didn’t want to spend £1200+ on a pram I’d rather have the money for mat leave

My DD is 6 months and I bought the Silver Cross Wayferer with car seat I love it. Handles amazingly, roomy basket and so easy to change from bassinet to buggy to car seat

i'll get the bugaboo bee5 , it's more expensive than some others however, i've always liked that brand and it's the best that fits my requirements.

Yo've got more ideas here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pushchair_chat/

What @pinyata said! We have the wayfarer as well and love that the car seat fits on the base. Dd is 7 months and we're into the pushchair now. It's great and so easy to use.

It depends what you'll be doing with it. Can you give us some more info? Will it need to fold and easily go in the car? Fit on a bus? Can you store it easily at home or does it need to be folded to store away?

Thanks to the reccomendations. Preferably fold away to store, I will likely be keeping it in the boot of my car. Yes has to be quick and simple to fold down, never been good with that! I definitely want something that grows with the baby and will last.
The more included- car seat, raincover, cosy toes etc. the better

Ok, the starting point here is your lifestyle.
Do you drive everywhere or do you walk lots or use public transport?
Do you live in house or a flat? Stairs to factor in?
Do you have any physical limitations - back problems, joint problems?
Do you have a dog that requires a daily walk over muddy fields/Woods?

If you’re a walker, think about something with big wheels so that it’s smoother to push and gives a more comfortable ride for the baby. If you have to regularly use public transport then you’ll need something which will fit on the bus or fold easily to fit on.

If you love shopping/being in town then something smaller, narrower with manoeuvrable front wheels will help.

What sort of space is available at home for storage? Is there room in the hallway or corner of a dining room to leave it up or will it have to be folded for storage at home?

Weight is a huge factor if you have physical problems. Not usually the weight when pushing but when lifting in and out of the car boot or up and down flights of steps.

If you’re an outdoorsy type then something with big wheels is definitely required. You’ll need plenty of boot space in your car for that.

Have a think about these and post back then I can narrow it down a bit to suitable products.

Hope this helps?

I’ve bought : www.mothercare.com/prams-and-pushchairs/mothercare-3-wheel-journey-chrome-travel-system-/LKB561.html?dwvar_LKB561_color=Khaki%2FBlack&cgid=#q=Journey&start=7 There’s a 4 wheel version as well. Bought it for £270 including car seat at one of their mum’s to be events.

I live in Devon! Countryside and beach lifestyle. We have to drive everywhere. My boot is medium size. We have a puppy but wouldn’t be able to fit a pram where we walk him (coastal cliffs). So thinking we will be using a baby carrier. I will mainly be using pram to go shopping, meeting friends, park strolls etc. I have no physical limitations and would prefer something light weight. Thanks for taking the time to help me :)

I have joolz geo. It's brilliant! Super big basket underneath and is great on all terrain. We live beside lots of rocky forest walks and my baby doesn't get tossed about inside. :)

As above it really depends what you want from a pram and how it will fit your lifestyle. We have the iCandy Orange and I'm really pleased with it. It fits our car seat (Maxi-Cosi Pebble) so is handy for quick errands where I don't want to wake the baby and move her to the carrycot. It also converts to a double for any future babies and has a built-in buggy board. Wasn't cheap but it feels really solid and the resale value is generally quite good for iCandys. It is quite bulky though and takes up a lot of space both in the car and in the boot.

We are getting Jane crosswalk travel system with matrix car/carrycot. I have read great reviews.

Same - Jane Crosswalk with Matrix, as a lie flat car seat is important. Otherwise they can’t be in the car seat more than 45min (depending on the advice - it’s limited anyway).

Have have an amazing Black Friday sale on right now.

Baby jogger city mini GT. Can attach a bassinet or car seat (can remove the seat fabric to do this if you want). So versatile, easy to fold, big wheels. We’ve used it since birth and dd now nearly 3. Has been fab.

For my granddaughter we have the silver cross wayferer which folds easily and fit’s in the boot of my golf nicely. I’ve just bought the silver cross urban Chelsea but haven’t used it yet for my baby which is due December 😀

We have the iCandy Apple 2 Pear (which allows for a double if we have another).

It is brilliantly agile.
Folds so easily.
Just needed to buy attachments for the car seat (which we had bought separately as icandy don't make car seats). All so easy to attach and brilliant to be able to change them. I.e kiddy falls asleep in the car on the way to shops. No need to wake them to transfer to Pram.
We live in a rural area and the dog happily walks along rough roads/off road with it.
I'd recommend spending good money on a Pram, paying more has definitely made my life easier since having DD. Smile

Right then! Take a look at the Baby Jogger City Mini GT.
There is a carrycot available (I'm a huge fan of carrycots) but can be used from birth with the seat (you would need to cosy it up a bit with a sheepskin for a tiny baby though) Car seat compatible (with good quality car seats), good size seat - will definitely take you through to the end of buggy usage. Very easy to fold and store. The GT has larger wheels but are foam-filled so no tyre punctures. A good quality rain cover (some for other brands are crap).

Also, Uppa Baby Vista. Brilliant all-rounder and really good value.
Comes with a very roomy carrycot (and tailored rain cover) which is vented an suitable for overnight sleeping. Car seat adaptors. Generous seat unit and hood with integral UV sun visor, HUGE shopping basket, rain cover and reasonably light weight.

Both are very reliable and are of excellent build-quality.

Just a starting point. There's loads more out there!

I had a bugaboo Chameleon to start with. It looks lovely, it's lovely to push but it was so bulky, shit at putting down and if it was in our boot, there was no way anything else could fit.
So my only advice is make sure it will fit in your house and car!
Now have the Quinny Buzz Xtra and I couldn't recommend it more. I prefer the basket on the Bugaboo, but it's a much better pram

When baby is older, city joggers are wonderful. We have one for when we need to do long drives and don't have as much available boot space.

I've got the silver cross wayfarer and although I love it, I do find it rather bulky and heavy and it takes up so much space in the boot of my Ford Focus. Dd always slept really well in it, she looks super comfy. She's still In the car seat at 16 months (she is small!) but feel I've had my money's worth. We did buy the isofix base as an extra and the pushchair insert- I think it's a bit bare without it!

Do you need something you can use on the beach? From the sounds of your lifestyle it sounds like you need something with off road capability so I'd start with those first. I believe the bugaboo buffalo is the only pram that states that it can cope with sand!
