Pregnancy

Awful spots on jawline and neck in second trimester.

Currently 16 weeks with first dc. There I was thinking that the second trimester was going to be the best bit....

Instead I have a fresh smattering of yucky pimples every morning. I am looong past teenage skin and finding it really tiresome as my otherwise dry skin doesn't work well with coverup. However in order to leave the house with a shred of confidence I'm having to trowel on the concealer and foundation.

Any skin product recommendations welcome and any advice about diet welcome too. However I'm pretty sure it's going to be put down to "hormones". Anyone else feeling like a spotty so and so?

I had this with DS at exactly the same time in my pregnancy. It was revolting st the time but definitely passed a few weeks later. I assumed it was hormonal. The joys of pregnancy.

I did use some witch hazel overnight gel stuff but I think it actually passed as the hormones changed.

I am 15+3 and have exactly this - the only thing I am finding is clearing them up is Sudocream!! I am still waiting for the glow Grin

Lol the 'glow' is basically like a unicorn - doesn't exist!! Everyone commenting how unwell I look at the minEnvy

If I'm getting a glow it's because I'm about as attractive as the worm variety!

Nice to know it might pass, having nightly bickering with dh saying "don't mess with your skin" whilst I liberally daub tea tree and do my best Angry face!

I've had horrendous spots too. I found it best to keep my face clean - so i fyou are wearing a lot of make up make sure you remove every trace religiously every night before bed. Double cleanse if you need to.

Products that I find help:

  • Thayers witchhazel - I use the rose and aloe formula
  • La Roche posay effaclar a.i spot cream
  • La Roche posay cicaplast pro recovery skincare. This one helps heal quickly and regenerate if you've had to squeeze a pimple.

Don't skip on moisturising for fear of causing more spots as your skin will over compensate and then produce more oil and you will then get more spots!!! If you're a bit wary use something light and hydrating. Just don't overdo the tea tree oil as it is so very strong. I would only apply that to the tip of any pimple/spot you may have not your actual healthy skin.

Fingers crossed it works for you! X

Thank you bananaramama for the product recommendations, I've been slathering on a layer of Clinique "moisture surge" as the rest of my face is like sandpaper.

Really good to have plenty of nodding from all though! At least I can blame the pregnancy and shrug it off as part and parcel of growing a new human Grin

I had them all over my chest and shoulders up until about 15 weeks, it was horrible. They did go, almost overnight, at about 18 weeks I think, but in the meantime I bought a loofah, and was exfoliating every third day or so in the shower, and then slapping on the bio oil.

You're welcome sundaylunch! I hope your skin gets better.
I've had horrific skin the past week. I counted 7 massive spots (one was genuinely a volcano on my nose Confused) plus my chin has been all red and dry from hormones. Glowing I am most definitely not!

I'd been struggling with my skin too, I broke out before I'd even done a test, on my back and chin mainly. I got some Clinique Anti-Blemish facewash and it seems to have worked for me, (week 12 now) although it's hard to tell as it could just be my hormones settling down!

I've noticed a smattering of spots round neck and jawline last few days too. The joys!! Think I might try the witch hazel.

I'm only 5 weeks and my skin is full of sore red under the skin spots. I've assumed it's horemones and will stop soon ... I hope it doesn't last the whole 9 months because my face is becoming a right state already!

I've been using tea tree micellar water/cleanser from Superdrug and all the other tea tree bits they do and it's definitely helped although I do still get breakouts, just nowhere near as bad.

Don't mean to be the voice of doom but ' pregnancy acne' is a thing. And sometimes doesn't go away after baby is born.

Also have had terrible skin pretty much from day 1, am now 15+1 and getting really fed up of looking like a teenager. They are all down my neck, on my chest and all over my face. Bad times. When do the hormones settle down?!
