How did you feel the few days/hours before going into labour?

I'm just wondering. I am now 38 weeks and have been feeling progressively like i am getting a cold through the day. Googled it and some people think its a sign labour will start in the next 1-2 weeks (sounds wishy washy to me). What did you feel like? Anything different?

At 39 weeks I suddenly flipped from "totally fine" to "get this baby out get it out GET IT OUT". I also had a slight increase in Braxton Hicks in that week before I went into labour on my due date. Otherwise felt exactly the same though.

Angrier. I was a week over and was a miserable cow for most of the pregnancy but the final weeks were something else!

I was in slow labour for a fortnight. I felt knackered all the time until the night before, then I went out dancing to try and shake him loose (he was 3 days overdue). I went in to have him the following night.

I became hugely bloated around the face a few days before all 3 births, together with an upset tummy (diarrhoea) and period cramps.

Not a single sign of labour until my waters broke in the night. Then contractions started.

Grumpy.

By which I mean properly vile.

Friday night we nearly divorced over a chicken pie being left out overnight.

Had the baby by saturday lunchtime.

First baby was just like Notthe, I had resigned myself to going over my due date and was making a shopping list in my head after waking up early, stood up and waters went!

Second baby was just like trev! I'd had 3 solid weeks of false starts and Braxton hicks, been too hot and constantly uncomfortable and tired from looking after 19 month old ds. I was the devil incarnate!

Ist baby - nothing. 2nd - had strong Braxton Hicks all day before (not painful)

Nesting. "Must reorganise the books in the bookcase NOW at 2am. It cannot wait."

Also totally distracted, on another planet. I decided to go home from an event early because I figured that meant I was about to have the baby. I should have got someone else to drive me home, as I wasn't safe to drive. I was making every effort to concentrate on driving, but finding it very hard to remember who had priority at each roundabout!

So interesting how different people felt. My head is all over the place at the mo. I thought symptom spotting for a bfp was bad.....Blush

I felt very grumpy and fed up and lacking in energy, having been very restless and in "nesting" mode previously. Then at around 10pm I had a very loose bowel movement. Went into labour at 2am, just a few hours later

The 3 days before I could've happily of attacked anyone who dared look at me, smile at me, talk to me even BREATHE in the same room as me!

Bored. Bored bored bored bored bored. In terms of actual symptoms, not a jot. Knew things were imminent because I lost my plug in stages over 24 hours on the two days before going into labour. Otherwise wouldn't have had a clue anything was looming.

I felt fine, just an increase of BH from due date onwards. Then in the 24 hours before labour started I had period pain/backache, bloody show and loose bowels.

At due date now with #3 and no signs yet!

Had period-like cramps the whole day before contractions starting, with increasing backache. Then had very loose bowel movements and contractions slowly started...

Adelie0404 · 15/09/2017 13:55

Like Ava50x I had a mild low period-like pain the day before for both, and contractions within 24 hrs. For second child, I knew what it was and was able to get DD1 for sleepover at friends, though they didn't believe me when i went round and was absolutely fine! Baby born just before 7 am.

Murderous. Properly grumpy, PMT like.

Absolutely as normal as anyone is at 38 weeks.

Well, 41 weeks with DS1. Which means I was bored of being bloody pregnant.

No signs whatsoever - I was quite happy until at 38 weeks I suddenly felt a stabbing pain in my tummy whilst shopping in M and S. Being a complete bozo I did not compute that this was labour (I thought it was constipation pain) until the stabbing pains were coming every three minutes and I was rushed to hospital to find I was 8cm dilated.

My strong advice - go shopping in M and S.
