Shellac and pregnancy

I may be over thinking but sat here about to do my nails with shellac & uv lamp and suddenly thought, ' is this safe to use when pregnant ?' as to be honest the smell is quite strong.

Anyone know ?

I know your not advised to have it on near to time of due date so that they can check vital signs if needed by finger nails etc , but what about during pregnancy?

I had it done throughout both pregnancies having checked with different beauty therapists first :)

I'm going in for an ELCS next week and have just had both my fingers and toes done, leaving just my left pinky finger polish free for O2 obs.

I've been having acrylics & gelish on mine during my pregnancy, the girl who does mine said it's fine. The fumes may make you feel nauseous though so try and make sure your in a well ventilated room xxx

I did lots of research and it's very inconclusive with many medical professionals warning of the risks and probably an equal number saying it's fine.

I got my gels off tomorrow and will be going au natural for the next 7.5mths! Better safe than sorry for me and DP is super cautious too and preferred me no to.
I'll treat myself when baby is here :)

I've been having shellac done throughout my pregnancy (now 37 weeks) with no problem and no one has questioned me about it. Just trying to decide whether I should take it off pre baby or leave it on.

I've left mine on (now 41 weeks) i started a thread about this in AIBU and a lot of replies said they can use your earlobes for obs if needed or they can take off just 1 nail if needed. If i was that worried I'd just peel off 1 nail if needed but really thats only if you end up having a c section.

Thanks FanaticalFox. No one at the hospital (I see the MW there) has yet told me that I can't have nail varnish on, and it's not in the notes or anything so I can't believe they are overly stressed about it!

I remember having the thickest glitter nail varnish on my toes as it's the only hing that didn't look messy when I was slapping it on trying to reach my toes.
The midwife had to remove one toenail of it as I was taken to theatre and they all joked afterwards that 'I'm there one with the glitter nail varnish that was impossible to remove !) 😳 perhaps I'll go with something plain and easy to remove on my toes instead next time x
