Morning!
26 weeks and been awake since 4. Had a grand total of 4.5 hours sleep. Considered that quite good!
On 'holiday' at a butlins type place, husband is snoring and it's a teeny tiny room- so I got up at 5 and have been sat reading in the reception area since.

Morning! 20 weeks pregnant and awake but I'm on night shift. I know I won't get to sleep when I get in though, can't get comfortable!

I used to go downstairs with a duvet at watch TV when I had pregnancy insomnia. Most of the time I'd drift back off and get some more hours then.

26 weeks here and I counteract my early morning insomnia by falling asleep on the sofa at 9pm most nights!

No advice I'm afraid but I'm sure it's your body getting you used to a few years of no sleep! 31 weeks pregnant here and lucky if I sleep 5 hours a night. 2 year old wakes at 5.30am too....with DS1 I had awful insomnia in pregnancy as well.

17 weeks and wide awake!
Went to bed at half 12 so had a bit of sleep. I was hoping this was just a 2nd trimester thing, as during the first I was in bed by 8pm and up at 7am.
I'll be dying by lunchtime and I've got to go to work 10-7 Sad

Pregnancy insomnia is horrendous.

The upside is when the baby comes it's a relief because you actually get some bloody sleep. (And I've had 2 bad sleepers!) m

It's the main reason I'm put off having a third.

Ps ignore anyone that says....you wait till the baby comes then you'll know what tiredness is. This is bollocks from people who haven't had pregnancy insomnia. My baby woke 20 times a night at 1 year old and it still wasn't as bad.

Morning! 36 weeks pregnant and been up since 5, tried to make myself a cup of tea and realised it was just hot water, fail! Sitting very quietly watching telly cos i don't want to wake the rest of the house up, and listening to Barbara batter us! Feeling tired already!

I hate it. I get up feeling like I haven't slept. 21 weeks and had it since the start.

I sleep so lightly and wake frequently for long periods to get comfortable, have a wee, a drink. I find listening to audio book helps me rest more and not stress in the night at not sleeping.

I had it with both dds and when they were born I slept amazingly until I stopped breastfeeding. The quality of sleep is better when they are born even if your disturbed and not get the quantity. Even with dd2 who would only sleep on my chest for first 10 weeks from 3-6 am the dd1 was up for the day!

Thank you thank you thank you Strawclutching for that.SmileSmile

Almost 33 weeks pregnant and also suffered from insomnia for years in the past.
"Your body preparing" "you will never sleep again"
So bloody helpful.
First NO your body doesnt prepare because lack of sleep just has awful accumulative efffects
Second when you give birth you release hormones that help you cope like other mammals, otherwise species would plainly not survive
Third stop scaring first time mums with that crap

All mums are different all babies are different
It is very hard not to sleep for weeks when pregnant so saying that it will only get worse is very unhelpful and nasty

35 weeks and I'm finding I can't breathe if I sleep on my back and hips ache if I sleep on my side. So I wake and toss and turn. My dr prescribed anti sickness meds - safe in pregnancy and makes you drowsy. It really helps getting back to sleep. Also I unashamedly take paracetamol for the pain in the middle of the night.

36+3, struggling now, restless legs, heartburn and uncomfortable in bed. Have to be almost dropping asleep before I go to bed or I'm awake for ages.

Awake here too! 33 weeks. Worst bit of pregnancy- what a cruel joke...exhausted but cannot sleep!

For once I was still asleep and my bloody mother decided 5:45am was the perfect time for her to get up and start crashing around, despite me having a house full of guests, all of whom she has woken. Apparently she "wanted a cup of tea and didn't feel it was an unreasonable action to make one." Xmas Angry

36+2 here and I'm getting very frustrates with the lack of sleep. I wake every 2 hours for a wee, then 4am hits and I just can't switch off or get comfy. By 9 am I'm bloody exhausted!

I hated pregnancy insomnia it was the worst! I used to get up and watch TV and have a cup of tea. Get better sleep with a baby definitely as at least you can actually get comfortable. Have a 9 month old and it's nowhere near as bad.
