Please can folk with more current experience of these things look at this and tell me what you think? There is a line there isn't there... V v faint but it's there...

I'm 43, with teen/grown children, a new relationship and a Mirena coil in situ!! I took the test due to sore boobs....

Hi - i didn't want to 'read and run'. Yes - i see a second line. If it was me i would personally go and get a digital .pregnancy test that will show the words Pregnant or Not Pregnant.

The reason i say this is that some tests can show an evaporation line, a digital test will tell you for definite without any guessing.

By the way, i had my first at 42 and my second at 45.

I hope you are ok

Hmmmm, its a very faint hint of a line, why dont you get a clearblue digital which should give you a more accurate answer, i.e. 'Pregnant' or 'not pregnant' ? Id defo do more than one test if i had this result!

My mum got pregnant with my sister, with a coil in situ, when she was in her 40s. The gp said it could have been due to weightloss, the coil had slipped.

Ring your gp surgery tomorrow for advice, if you are pg the coil will need removed.

seastargirl · 06/08/2015 21:41

You need to go straight to your gp to discuss your options about coil and to arrange a scan to find out where implantation has taken place as you have a higher risk of eptopic pregnancy with a coil.

It must be one hell of a shock!

I'm a coil baby by they waySmile

Do you guys actually think this is a positive then??? I'll repeat the tests as necessary... But I'm having trouble computing this...

With a line that feint a digi will say Not Pregnant. If you do use one, make sure you get two to check again in a week or two.

And yes to GP & ruling out ectopic.

Hi op get another test to check., also get yourself to the doc as soon as you can as pregnancy and the coil is not a great mix ( but you probably know this). Good luck.

ginagslovechild · 06/08/2015 21:45

Yes it's not as feint as the line I had with ds.

There is definitely a line there. Sorry you are feeling so shocked OP Flowers

I thought that indomitable.. Re a digital... The cheat ones actually seem to be more sensitive according to a Google search..

I guess a test with a morning will be be more reliable than this late-afternoon-quite-dilute-urine one...

A colleague told me that her sister had a condom baby, a pill baby and a coil baby. The coil baby was unique in the family in having beautiful ringlets, which they all found funny.

If you do test positive tomorrow, you should let your doctor know as soon as you can. When I had my coil fitted they said if I did become pregnant they might want to do a scan to check it wasn't ectopic as the risk is a little higher for those who fall pregnant with a coil. Mine was a copper one though not a hormone one, so that may be different.

I do hope this will turn out to be happy, if unexpected, news for you and your family if it is positive.

This happened to me recently, 3 faint lines on internet cheapies and then 2 not pregnants on the digitals, still don't know if they were dodgy tests or if the cheapies were picking up the end of hcg and i had early miscarriage. was 3 weeks after dtd so was an ok time to test, do you know how long ago conception would have taken place if it did or are you dtd too regularly for that?

JessePinkmansHoody · 06/08/2015 21:59

It would've been 6th July.. Opportunities aren't that regular yet... It's a little complicated

How many weeks would that make me?o can't even remember how to date it.. And I've no periods to count forwards from....

In that case, I think you might be ok, you would be roughly 8 weeks pg I think and I would expect a much darker line. Here is my thread with pics - www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2425804-Evaps-on-internet-cheapies-within-time-frame hopefully the same weirdness is going on for you, get a digi as you are defo not too early to test. Good luck.

Wouldn't that make me going on 6 weeks?? I'm v out of practice....

I think the time frame would make you 6 weeks ish but the line does look faint for 6 weeks (thigh definitely there), maybe because it's not morning urine? I'd definitely retest tomorrow first thing.

Good luck, hope all ok whatever the outcome!

As others have said, do another test, but yes I see a line. I have 2 friends who are coil babies, both fine though one was born with the coil in her leg and has a funky spiral scar from it. The other was born with the coil in his heart but was fine- had an operation when he was about 18months to remove it. No issues since. Appears coil babies aren't that rare!

JessePinkmansHoody · 06/08/2015 23:20

Omg Juno. Blush In his HEART??! Thank God he was ok....

So they don't tend to remove them then?? I guess doing so could cause miscarriage...

Just checked packaging of tests and seen that they are only sensitive to 20 units of HCG whereas some other tests are 10.... And I think this afternoon's wee would have been quite dilute. So I guess the morning will give me a better answer even with another of the same tests

If the test tomorrow is positive Op you need to get to the GP urgently. Pregnancy with mirena coil in situ is totally different from copper coil pregnancies. There are plenty of copper coil babies out there. Mirena is very different and needs to be removed asap. CHances of miscarriage and ectopic are increased.

Report
JessePinkmansHoody · 07/08/2015 06:10

It's negative... No trace of a line this time. And this with a morning wee. I guess all is well then?! No idea what that faint line was about yesterday.. Shock
