When did your usual clothes start feeling uncomfortable?!

Have an urge to go out and buy loose fitting trousers etc instead of my usual skinny jeans but am only 7 weeks!! My usual clothes (trousers/jeans) just feel rather uncomfortable at times now, just wondering if that's normal even though I'm nowhere near the bump stage yet?!

Thanks in advance :-)

About 9/10 weeks this time - it's DC2. I'm actually (much much) smaller bump-wise this time than with DC1 (now 36 weeks), so feeling bumpy early doors doesn't mean you'll end up huge - don't worry!

It wasn't really until close to 20 weeks, but for a friend of mine it was around 6. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable.

I went out and bought loose fitting trousers with soft elastic waistbands yesterday, and I'm 12 weeks. Have been walking around for 3 weeks with my normal trousers undone under long tops though as even though I have no sign of a bump, the pressure was very uncomfortable! Normal I think, don't worry about it :)

at about 10 weeks after a week off (in pjs and leggings) I went to get dressed for something more formal and couldn't do them up at all. I had to do a quick emergency shop in leggings and DH's t shirt!

Thanks everyone that's very reassuring, you've hit the nail on the head about the 'pressure' feeling uncomfortable! Pre pregnancy I don't think I anticipated that, only thought I'd need new clothes when actual bump started to show! Any advice on where to get comfy elastic trousers would be much appreciated!! :-)

Next! I'm 23 weeks and happily wearing Next Jersey trousers - they are soo comfy! I have Black and Navy for work and then patterned ones too. www.next.co.uk/x5360s8#653551x53 Also, just discovered a pair in there that have elastic inserts at the sides too and they are not maternity ones! www.next.co.uk/g392156s2#656957g39
Fantastic!

Really early on!!! I had to buy maternity trousers for work very early on (probably 6 weeks!) Tops were fine for a while but there was no way i could wear ordinary trousers

Pretty early for me too - definitely before 12 weeks. I could technically still fit into things but, like others have said, I just hated the pressure of something tight against my stomach. I got some pull-on jersey trousers from Very (not maternity ones), £20 for a pack of two - not particularly glamorous but they have been my saviour throughout pregnancy. I got some in my normal size and some in the next size up (six pairs in total!) and am still living in them at 39 weeks!

It was about 10 weeks with pregnancy number one and about 16 weeks with number two. I was two clothes sizes bigger to start with this time though so I think my clothes were stretchier than when I was a size 10 with dc1.

Mine was quite late - 16 weeks or so. But this may be because I wear low cut jeans or leggings, and t-shirts or stretch tops (nothing cutting across the bump zone), so there was space to get quite big before I noticed!

I was in my normal clothes for a while but starting wearing mostly stretchy stuff at about 12 weeks. I ordered my maternity clothes at 16 weeks and started wearing them at 17. Yesterday I got the first comment from a stranger about my bump at 18+6 I do feel like I expanded overnight and that I'll now probably need more maternity clothes than I thought. Needed new bras at 10 weeks though!

I'm 7 weeks too (DC3) and for the last few days have been living in leggings and tunics - jeans are uncomfortable. But I think I remember being like this with DC2 as well, and actually managed not to really tell anyone until after our 20 week scan as I wasn't showing - I think the early in uncomfy feeling is more bloating than bump IYSWIM.

It was 9 weeks for me, I was so uncomfortable (more bloat than actualy bump) in my jeans and then couldn't even do the fly up so I gave in and bought underbump jeans. So much more comfy! Until now! Sadly now am 18 weeks the bump band is now sitting right across my actual bump but I have just got some yoga trousers that will hopefully be more comfy for the house. Assuming bump will soon expand past the underbump band and my jeans will be comfy again but if not will try over bump ones! What a palava! Like you I just thought you needed these things when you had a big bump! Have only just needed to buy tops though and lots don't fit me still as bump too small for them. So frustrating. Thanks for this actually I quite needed to get that off my chest!!

From about 5 weeks. I think the IVF drugs were partly to blame for the bloating though. I soldiered on in my normal clothes until about 14 weeks though I think, sometimes with a button or zip undone.

Before I knew I was pregnant! I was struggling to get in my jeans and just presumed id put on a bit of weight. Turns out it was my pelvis doing its thing and I was 7 weeks pregnant!.

16 weeks with first pregnancy. 11 weeks with second pregnancy because I was already stretched out.

I found them uncomfortable at 10 weeks held off buying a maternity wardrobe until 14 weeks. Sporting my maternity jeans today at 16 weeks and getting lots of comments on my already big bump!

About 20 weeks for jeans, 24 weeks for work trousers, and still comfortable in my normal tops at 34 weeks.

I had to get myself to primark and pick up what I lovingly call my 'fat pants', it was 5 weeks... That's early, hope I'm not going to be mahoosive!

I'm 12 weeks with DC1 (first pregnancy) and already uncomfy around the waist. I think it depends on your style a bit- my jeans are all pretty tight/slim fitting and I've put on about 6lbs and the waistbands are getting tight. I've just come back from lunch and undone my fly button... Hopefully baby bump will join up with flab soon!

I am a bit self conscious of wearing leggings at work even with a tunic or dress, just because I wear jeans every day. so I might have to look at some mat jeans sooner rather than later. I like the look of the ones up thread with the side stretch panels.

I was very similar to you OP. I was generally okay with tops but most normal trousers / jeans were just plain uncomfortable very early on. By about 5-6 weeks I was wearing bump bands or using a hair tie to secure my jean button to the hole so I could have an extra couple of inches! By about 8-9 weeks though I got fed up of this and went out and bought some good maternity clothes, and never looked back! To be honest, it some ways it makes sense to buy maternity clothes early as you get much more use out of them that way, and they are just sooo comfy! I started showing very early though (my work colleagues guessed I was pregnant by my rapidly emerging bump when I was only 10 weeks)! x

I was fine with my normal dresses, tops etc but was out of my normal jeans by week 12. And that was after losing weight with the morning sickness. You can be quite crampy and tender around the abdomen even without a bump, and there is less give even before it sticks out. I got maternity jeans. Still finding normal leggings ok at 25 weeks and I have quite a bump. Larger soft clothes work fine still, don't have a lot of proper maternity stuff yet. But you need to feel comfy!

I bought next size up in usual jeans at about 9 weeks but soon grew out of those too. Moved to maternity over the bump jeans from Next at around 13 weeks. Heaven! Also got some smart black work trousers from Next. Just move over whenever it gets uncomfortable and don't worry when that is.
