Waiting for morning sickness...

Hi everyone!

I'm currently 5w+1 and nervously anticipating the onset of nausea any day now! Feeling bloated and the odd bit of light-headedness atm. Have been reading lots of threads re morning sickness and loads of ladies said it starts any time now, yikes! Needed to nip out of class today for the loo (I'm a teacher) and realised a) how far away the toilet is past lots of other classrooms and b) the fact that the toilet is right next to the head's office. If/when sickness starts I think I will have to tell work straight away! When did your morning sickness start?

I didn't get it at all with my first. Pretty much from day 1 with number 2 though.
Congrats and good luck for a puke free time.

Never had any morning sickness at all with DS, and a colleague who was also pg at the same time was the same. I've been fairly nauseous with DC2 but this appears to have passed (16 weeks), and I haven't vomited at all.

Morning sickness is not a given. You may get equally lucky Smile

Ah fingers crossed! Yep it's my 1st. My good friend recently had her first and had HG until baby was born, I guess I'm expecting the same but hoping not! I tend to get awful travel sickness - can this affect likelihood of morning sickness? Hope yours passes soon BlondeBrunette1!

Not everyone gets it - and even when you do it may not be every day you're actually sick (or during working hours).

I've had it on and off daily but only boaked at school three times by week 11. Is there only one staff toilet in your school?

I was lucky enough to not suffer from it. I might have known I was pg earlier than I did if I had!

2 toilets, both next to the office :( There's kids toilets next to my classroom but the thought of going in them makes me feel ill even without morning sickness! I've been reading up on here for tips to avoid puking so I'm stocking up on ginger and lemon just in case!

My midwife said it's actually more common not to have morning sickness (not sure if that's true or not!)

I'm currently 24 weeks with my first, and had no morning sickness at all, not even nausea. Two of my friends are pregnant also and neither of them suffered from it. So you might get lucky!

Thanks Rebecca :-) me too. Hope you don't get it, it's miserable but its all worth it. I'm a bit funny about taking any medication (even paracetamol) when pregnant a d everyone keeps telling me to go and get anti sickness meds but I'd rather suffer than worry about any side effects that could later be linked to them (I sound like an idiot I am sure, I know they are probably perfectly safe but I just prefer not to.) xxx

Fwiw I never had any morning sickness. Not even when expecting my twins. Not a boast, just to let you know it's not inevitable Smile

Be positive! Perhaps you will be lucky and not have it at all! x

You can't control whether you get it but there's really no point expecting it. I'm 13w and haven't had any.

If you do get it, my tip to stop yourself feeling sick is to keep nibbling. Don't let yourself get hungry. Obviously you'll put on extra weight doing that, but I'd prefer a bit of extra fat to sticking my head in the loo every 1/2 hour. Anyway if you're pregnant people expect you to get fat. Grin

I haven't been sick any of the times I've been pregnant. It's not inevitable. But I do get terrible seasickness and I find those sea bands very helpful, as well as nibbling oatcakes.

6 weeks, hospitalised with HG at 8 weeks, same for both pg. Had to tell work pretty early.

My nausea didn't kick in really until around 9 weeks and although I've had a few moments when I thought I was going to hurl I haven't actually vommed yet and it's easing considerably now.

I'm not a very sicky person. I've only thrown up a handful of times as an adult- booze, norovirus and once or twice from really bad food poisoning.

You might be relatively lucky like me, or escape entirely.

It's felt like I've been nauseous since the day of conception, no word of a lie. That and aching boobs from the same day onwards were my first thought that I might be pregnant. I'm 9 weeks now, and have had a few days off here and there, but whilst I've not actually BEEN sick, I've been having proper waves of that sick feeling, sometimes really strong, the whole time. Last night and this morning are particularly bad.

I didn't have any. I felt pretty run down & queasy but mcvities chocolate digestives and ginger beer kept it under control!

Stay positive that you will also be puke free! Smile

The majority of women do not get morning sickness so don't assume it will happen.

I had it for 3 days but that was it, and even then it didn't start until I was about 14 weeks pregnant.

Fingers crossed you won't suffer from it!!

I'm 7 weeks and (touch wood) have only had a touch of nausea, it seems like having an early breakfast helps. But don't worry, there's plenty of other fun symptoms! ;)
