Would you eat Christmas cake made with brandy?

Do you think pg women can eat Christmas cake which has been traditionally made at home by pouring brandy into it over a few months? Or does it count as drinking....?

I would definitely eat it. Doesn't most of the alcohol get burnt off when it's cooked, anyway? You're also only going to have a slice, so it will just be a small proportion of the brandy that's been poured on.

No, lots of it gets evaporated. Just enjoy it!

Of course you can eat it! The amount of booze per serving of cake would be very small anyway, and as previously mentioned most of it evaporates off, so even lower.

Definitely, especially as we have to miss out on the other treats like French cheese, pate, champagne etc! I made my Christmas cake with brandy this year and I'm not going to miss out after all that effort! Although I admit I didn't "feed" it with brandy after cooking so much as I usually would.

You can eat pasteurized cheese, and most of the supermarket pre-packed cheeses will be pasteurized, even the Brie.

I think a little bit of alcohol in moderation won't hurt, and before I get flamed I don't mean guzzling straight spirits.
Most of the alcohol does evaporate that's why our dc don't get drunk by eating it.
I would be more concerned about royal icing if its been made with egg white tbh.

YES! I'm not missing out on Christmas cake for the sake of a teaspoon-full (or probably much less) of brandy! Such minute amounts of alcohol will have a little to no affect on your baby, don't worry.

Brie on the other hand is made with pasturised milk, yes, but the rind is "grown" afterwards with mold and bacteria and so can be a source of listeria, which can be very dangerous to a developing baby so, in my opinion, is worth avoiding which is killing me as I love love love brie.

I think the not deibkingnfuring pregnancy has gone too far if someone has to ask Can I eat a pudding that has brandy in it!

On Brie: it's not that it is/isn't pasteurised that's the problem, it's that it's "mould ripened" - which is true of all Brie. You can eat it (well) cooked though

Ah, now where I live I was told Brie was okay. I didn't know that about the rind. I stand corrected!

To be honest I think most mass produced supermarket Brie is probably pretty low risk (just my own opinion) - I'd be more concerned about the (delicious) stuff from a good deli
