Another missed miscarriage?

Hi ladies - I had a missed miscarriage 12 weeks ago, the baby stopped developing at 9 weeks but was only picked up at the 12 week scan. Last week I took a test and discovered that I was pregnant again. BUT... I had one period since the miscarriage on the 17th July. Based on this I should be over 7 weeks pregnant but went for an early scan yesterday and they dated it at 5 weeks 3 days. All that was there was an empty sac and yolk sac. The doctor said that if I had been having regular cycles she would be doubtful that this preganancy is viable but because I just had one period post miscarriage it could be that my cycle is out and that I am only 5 weeks 3 days. Only way to tell is to go back in 2 weeks and see if there is any development. Issue is I don't feel at all pregnant. No symptoms at all and I am driving myself mad with worry. :(

I'm sorry about your miscarriage and I'm sorry you are going through this worry.
I went through a mc in march, then fell pregnant again in April, I had an early scan, I thought I was 7 weeks but scan showed empty sac and yolk, after 2 weeks of worry I went back for another scan and all was well!! I am now 21 weeks Smile
It is a horrible wait but try not to worry about it too much (easier said than done I know)
Good luck x

thanks so much for the ray of hope. I really want to be positive but the issue is I just don't feel pregnant at all. First time round I did (sore boobs, tired) and then all the symptoms stopped and that was when I think the baby also stopped growing. So this time lack of symptoms has me panicked and thinking only the worse. I have posted on another forum and all the replies were people that had had similiar experiences but a negative outcome. You are the first positive and for that I thank you x

PS I forgot to congratulate you on the 21 weeks! That is great news for you :)

Glad I have given you some hope, I meant to say when I went for the early scan I thought I was 7 weeks but I was actually only 5 so sounds very similar!
I too had lack of symptoms ( hence the reassurance scan) and constant worry and knicker checking Smile
With DS I was violently sick morning noon and night and something just didn't feel right.
Still 21 weeks on I've had no sickness, my boobs have grown a little Grin but other than that I've honestly not even felt pregnant.

It's such a horrible situation to go through and I really feel for you, I drove myself insane (and my dp) with worry!
All my fingers and toes are crossed for you, please let me know how you get on x

My cycles got longer following both miscarriages I had, so really don't rule this one out yet - you could have just ovulated late. I'm now 28 wks pregnant but conceived this one on day 27 of a massively long cycle. If I hadn't known that, I would have been in the same position as you when they tried to date it.

Fingers crossed for you, I hope it works out.

Thank you both. GrandPoohBah (!) congratulations to you too! I am trying so hard but struggling. I have a history of depression and struggle at the best of times so this is proving really really tough to handle and yesterday was a terrible day. Hoping today might be better. I will let you know. The thing that scares me most is going through another missed miscarriage - I dealt with the last one so badly. I feel so alone but it really helps more than you know to have people reply that have gone through the same thing and come out the other side. This 2 weeks is beginning to feel like forever. x

Its very possible your ovulation was delayed after MC and so you are only 5 weeks which would also be a bit early for any kind of meaningful symptoms?
The waiting game is so hard, hang in there and I really hope this ends up being a viable pregnancy for you

Thanks you Farfallarocks. I really hope so too but this is as you say a waiting game now and to some extend I know that it is in the hands of the gods/fate/some higher being and I need to hang on to that but it is hard. You ladies are brilliant though and all the comments are literally getting me through the minutes and the hours of each day - sounds dramatic but it is true.

Hope your ok today, I remember reading somewhere that the chances of having a missed miscarriage are very very slim, like less than 3% - not sure how true that is but it gave me hope x

Thank you - I have already had one missed miscarriage so i'm hoping that I don't have to go through another. One day at a time for the next couple of weeks I think x

I am sorry you are going through this! I had a blighted ovum that I had to be 'pg' with for five weeks as they kept scanning to see if the baby popped up so know how you must feel being in limbo.

However, that story was gloomy but actually I wanted to say that after a chemical preg last month I didn't ov this cycle until CD 29! Got my BFP near CD 40! the drs want to think I am 6 weeks pg according to LMP and when normal people ovulate (i.e the mythical CD14) when I am actually only 4 weeks - so there can be this discrepancy and cycle mix up after mc :)

there's hope! such good luck for the next two weeks, really look after yourself won't you Thanks

thank you all so much for the reassurance - counting the days until we go on hols and then when we come back i'll have a 2 day wait until I know what is going on. Torture but it just helps so much having people that have gone through a similiar thing. Really trying to look after myself as much as I can (despite the fact I feel so stressed which I know is not good). x

So sorry to hear about your MMC, they're so cruel aren't they!

I've got another ray of hope for you, my mmc was december, my cycles lengths went a bit doolaly, in april I got a bfp, went for a scan expecting to be 12+ wks but was 10, I'm now almost 26wks. I've had No bad symptoms at all, brief nausea at 10wks, few aches and cramps but none of the eugh I'm pregnant feelings, apparently this is because our bodys are already prepared. Its highly likely your cycles out. Good luck and fingers crossed xxx

Thank you thank you. I'd had another tough day but these messages help. Getting through work is a chore, I just cannot concentrate as it all seems very pointless to be talking business when life seems more important if you know what I mean. I hope all goes well for you terilous87 and StateofConfusion. I will keep you all posted - 11 days left to wait to understand if i'm back on the rollercoaster of sadness or not. Hmmhmm. Exhausted with it all.

OK I know that this may sound really silly, especially only 3 days since a positive scan, but I had some pains yestreday that really worried me and I wondered if anyone could give me any advice. They started at about 4pm but weren't the dull achy ones that I have had before and with the last pregnancy in the early stages. These were more sharp - not so much that they were super intense but more sharp than dull and really uncomfortable and really low down. My husband and I were out at one of his work events and we had to leave early as I felt in pain. When we got home I was shattered and went straight to bed. I woke this morning and don't have the pain anymore and haven't had any bleeding or anything but I am so scared that it may have been a sign something was wrong. I feel like I am going crazy but I can't help but be worried. If anyone has any advice or similiar experience it is very welcome.

I dont have any great advice but didnt want to read and run. Hopefully someone esle will come along soon.

That said though I think you're going to worry about any type of niggle or pain. I do and that's with not having your history. So for you I'd imagine everything is increased massively?

I suppose I'd say that you know what you need to watch out for and even if you don't have those specific symptoms if you're still worried go and get checked out. No one is going to mind you needing reassurance. At all.

I'm 8 weeks with number 4 and getting much different twinges and aches to the last few times. I know that's not the same as a sharp pain though but I'd thought it would show how each pregnancy can be different.

Sorry if I've not been much help! Hope things go a bit smoother for you.

Thank you. That did help. I have called the doctor and they suggested coming in today so I have an appointment at 4. Really hoping all is OK and I wish you the best of luck with number 4 xxx
