Hi BabyDust,

I got through on eating ryvitas smothered in cottage cheese with ham / houmus / guacamole, babybels, cereal bars (barely touched the sides!), porridge and dried mango.

I did my best to substitute my usual white bread, rice and pasta with wholemeal versions, but it's tough to be superhealthy in your first trimester especially as your appetite tends to be quite fussy.

Maybe just wander round the supermarket and see if anything catches your fancy, then stock up on loads of it so it's always to hand.

If you're craving crisps, are pretzels a good alternative?

Good luck and congrats on the pregnancy Grin.

I get healthy snack boxes from www.graze.com You can choose from a selection of treats and it gets posted to you. Great for keeping in your bag :)

I loved almonds when pregnant with DS. Those and a glass of warm milk.... Mmmmm perfect. Otherwise you could try cheese, carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes or breadsticks and hummus.

Don't worry about the junk food stage, it does pass.

Carrot sticks and hummus as mentioned before, massive bowls of plain yoghurt with blueberries, nuts. I generally love veg and salads but in the 1st trimester I could not bear the thought of them, like you I just wanted sweets. It freaked me out as I started picking up weight but there wasn't much I could do about it. Got a lot better in the 2nd trimester though

My pregnancy has been fuelled by hummus/baba ganoush and carrot sticks and sourdough toast with mushroom paté. That is, when it wasn't fuelled by barbecue flavour hula-hoops, lest that sounds too virtuous for words. Don't worry, the junk cravings do pass, though to be honest I still don't understand why my usual love of kale and broccoli was replaced in early pregnancy by a total horror of them.

When I was pregnant with DS it was a hard boiled egg, chunk of cheese and baby tomatoes every evening after work.....

Then after the 12 week scan i hit the biscuits.hard. :)

I'm with you on the whole junk food thing!! Im 10+3 and for the whole pregnancy so far have had a HUGE appetite!! Mainly crisps - it started with Quavers, then French Fries, now Discos!! Though any crisps will do!! Also tucking into biscuits and chocolate - not good huh?!

So, on the healthy front, am trying my best to get my 5 a day in me - usually some orange juice with breakfast, an apple, some sort of salad, then 2 veggies with my main meal (last night was courgette, pea & onion pasta).

Snack wise, I'm having yoghurts (especially enjoying diced apple in natural yoghurt), crackers/crispbreads, toast, crumpets, cereal and cereal bars (ie. Special K or Go Ahead ones).

Im hoping this junk food / never full phase will stop at some point though!!

I've gone down the mixed nut and dried fruit (apricots and cranberries) for snacking. Taramasalata and toasted pitta (though it's difficult to stop once I've started on that!).

Am I the only person pregnant who has actually gone off chocolate? I can't stand the stuff now or anything sweet for that matter.

My downfall at the moment is burgers - had a Big Mac yesterday - oh it was lovely!
