Hi, ok I've already posted a thread about this on here ages ago but I rly can't stop worrying, its getting me seriously down. Please don't judge me.... Anyway... Me and my partner had broke up, I had unprotected sex with a friend on the 18th july, my period came on the 19th july, I was on for about a week. By that time me and my partner got bk together, we have been having unprotected sex as we wanted another baby (we have already gt a 2yr old together) and now I'm pregnant. Is there ANY chance that it could be with the friend? I cnt get it out my head. I have my dating scan on tuesday and want to know how accurate it is? I'm 11 weeks 5 days from LMP, I had sex with my bf nearly everyday minus about 2! I am really worrying constantly about this and rly want it to be my bfs but just dnt know if friend could of got me pregnant day before my usual period started, on time, although two days longer, but that could be because when I came on I took the pill for 3 days as I wasn't back with my partner then

I think it's extremely unlikely you got pregnant day before your period.

But perhaps you should have a STD check.

If you have a regular cycle then I'm pretty sure you will be fine.

Yes my cycles is 26-28 days and is very reliable. I have been checked for everything and all clear. I cnt help worrying tho.

I really wouldn't worry, I doubt very much you would have fallen pregnant the day before your period was due. Im sure all will be fine

I wouldn't imagine so mumt1 its so unusual to ovulate that late in your cycle and you had your period right after. Did you have you dates confirmed at your scan?

My scan is on tuesday. Are the correct tho? Like dead on? X

It's very very unlikely that the baby could be your friends. Does your partner know about the friend?

The scan normally says plus or minus 5 days, so yes they are accurate enough that you should probably get an answer. Good luck with your scan

The chances of getting pregnant by your friend are practically zero as you came on the next day and had a normal period. I'd say it's most likely your partners. I had a dating scan a few weeks back and it put me at 12+2, while I was 12 exactly based on my LMP. The sonongrapher said they don't change the EDD based on 2/3 days either way, don't be alarmed if the baby is showing as being a few days older/bigger.

You will likely be STD tested when you have bloods taken (or have they been taken already at your booking appt with your mw?) but they don't cover everything. You should get seperately checked out IMO.

I really don't think it could be your friends, when you had your period the lining of the womb, and therefore anything attached to it, would have come away.

I know of someone who fell pregnant twice on her period, so although unlikely it does happen. So no, the chances are not zero that the baby is friend's.

The chances aren't completely zero that it is your friend's baby but it is most likely to be your boyfriend's

What about the fact I didn't get a positive preg test until 5 weeks lmp, so five weeks after I slept with my friend? I took some at 4 weeks and all where negative.

the pregnancy test is not relevant - DD1 test positive at 3.5 weeks, nearly 6 weeks with Dd2. I dont think its the friend as you had a normal period the next day so you were nowhere near your mid cycle.

If you are regular on your cycle you would be unlikely to ovulate til day 12- 14. You ovulate 14 days before your period comes so if you have a 26-28 day cycle then you ovulate on day 12-14. If your cycle is regular then any sperm from the friend would be well gone by then as only lives 5 ish days. Don't worry about it :) - a doctor will likely say the same. Those that get pregnant during period probably have irregular cycles and so cant predict ovulation date e.g after mistaking the pill or coming off contraception.

I chartered my cycles using ovulation kits for months with both DDs and if cycles are regular ovulation prediction is very accurate. The number of days leading to ovulation can vary but its always 14 days after ovulation til your period starts afterwards. This is always 14! So if you are regular then you are likely fine!

You were trying for a baby, broke up, slept with someone else, started taking the pill again, got back with your partner and started trying again for a baby all in the same two week period? Crikey.

mum1 Im 12 weeks and 3 days pregnant, my last monthly period was the 14th of July, im not much crack at maths so dont laugh at me but your less pregnant than me by just under a week, and your period was five days after mine, and my conception date was about the 28th of July, so yours would be about a week or so after that - so no you cant be pregnant with the friend surely?

Does that logic work? (its themighty, by the way changed my name to match my cravings Grin)

mumt1 that's not how it works. Generally with a normal cycle you don't ovulate until 14 days after your period, sperm can survive for up to 5 days but the egg can only be fertilised in a 24 hour window, meaning if you have a 'normal' cycle you would have had to have sex between days 9-16 of your cycle (day 1 being the day your period started). They just date your pregnancy from the start of your last period as it makes life easier for them.

I hope that makes sense and I haven't left you more confused. You have to know because however pregnant they say you are you'll actually have conceived a couple of weeks after they say you did, I don't want you to think the friend is the dad if that's not the case. What time is your scan?

Report
Hotpotpie · 11/10/2011 12:22

now im confused, I think they date you from your period not conception?
