Can I eat Halloumi when pg?

To answer your question, yeah, it's hard and pasteurised. Don't see why not. Just checked and as long as it's pasteurised it's fine

Yep. Pretty certain you can eat anything when preg except unpasturised cheese, non-lion stamped eggs (soft/raw...can eat any eggs hard), pate (ggrrrrrr) and shellfish
Happy to stand corected on any of the above.

You can even eat unpasteurised cheeses if they are cooked through thoroughly, like baked camembert or blue cheese in a soup.

As long as freaky cheeses are banned, and by that I mean any that also contain fruit (gah!) and the horrific Toffee Cheese a colleague of mine tried to force onto me. No need. No need.

Oh, a cheese thread.
I'm really disappointed because I won't be able to eat Vacherin Mont d'Or with oatcakes this winter. It's only sold for a few months every year and I will be pregnant while it's sold where I live. Sad

Can you not buy Vacherin when it's being sold and stash it somewere til safer times?

My cheese eduation was only just begining before I got pg and I seem to have developed a dairy intolerance from about 12 weeks. I do love brie...just as it comes, on a cracker, with a dollop of plum chutney. After this baby has arrived, I intend to become a cheese whore (for want of a better expression). Bring on the cheeseplate at Christmas, then a new cheese a month until I am as wide as I am tall.

I'm just doing some research into the whole Vacherin Issue. Wikipedia says it's sold til May 10th and I'll have the baby at the start of February. So if I can source it, there'll be plenty of time.

I never ate cheese as a kid or teenager. Only started loving it a few years ago. Haha, a cheese whore. I like that!

My birthday is May....would make the perfect gift! Will have to find a suitable family member who would appreciate (and share) in it's rareity. I find it odd that my Father cant even bear the sight of cheese. Freak!
