Have a dd. love stripes - don't know why, I never wear them! Also love stars, checks, and don't have any swirls but they sound good. Like animal patterns and a bit of floral chintz.

Don't like spots on her or me.

Would really really love some more yellow clothes for her but everything is so pink / blue it drives me mad!

I love stripes on everyone, not just children. Not keen on swirls, florals or small gingham that makes you feel like you'll see the Eiffel Tower if you stare at it for long enough.

It drives me nuts when all I can find is bloody skull designs on everything! I wrote to Little woods not to long ago because out of 18 pairs of pyjamas, 10 had skulls on. It's part of a rotted corpse! Why do they think we want that on our kids clothes?

Give me stripes any day.

myfirstfire do you like spots on boys?

spots seem to be a girly thing so i don't like them on girls really but do on boys as it makes a change to see them on boy's things where as they are on lots of girl's things if that makes sense.

shatnersbasoon im the same with floral things. dont mind them on boy's things but not on girl's. what about you?

I'm bored, bored, bored of stripes on DS because it's about the only thing that isn't dinosaurs, vehicles, or literal writing saying I AM LOUD that you can get on "boys'" clothes.

I love stars and spots and he loooooves spots. Spots are very, very hard to find on non-frilly non-dress toddler clothes. I am happy to put him in pink but draw the line at dresses and frills. I am guessing that spots are too "rounded" and "soft" for boy clothes.

I like cutesey monsters, animals especially if funky/retro. Funky flowers (e.g. a single tulip with no frills, not all over rambling roses).

nappy I got DS a lovely grey H&M sweatshirt with white spots, and also leggings grey with black spots. Both came from the "girl" section but he doesn't care.

In "boy" floral I have a couple of Boden-via-Ebay tops that just have one large, plain flower on them. E.g. blue with a single green/red flower.

Not so much patterns, but like was mentioned the really horific annoying cheesy slogans like "little rascal" or "mummys favourite" eurgh!

Dd (3.6) has lots of stripes and spots. If I can find star stuff I buy her that too. Im not a floral fan but she is so she does have a few basic summer dresses in a floral print.

DS (8mo) has a lot of stripey and spotty bodysuits (agree with a pp about H&M). Anything with stars on gets bought.

Ive re used a lot for ds that dd had as I do like the same prints for both.

Hate slogan tees and "branded" clothes (both sport branded and disney/avengers/et al)

Hmmm nappy I hadn't thought about it before but no I don't think I do like spots on boys - I just don't like spots!
I like stripes on boys but agree it can get very samy samy as stripes seem to be 'acceptable' for boys.
Off topic (again Blush ) but I think dresses for babies and toddlers should all be burnt. So freaking impractical! They should ALL have culottes sewn in - this would be my first law as PM Grin

I thought this was floral

Unnecessary slogan

Boy's dotty shirt from H&M. Am thinking they didn't get the industry memo.

"Plain" Boden flower t-shirt though it looks more red it says pink.

More not-very-girly flower/fruit patterns.

Camouflage. Ugh

I avoid camouflage, transport, character stuff like spiderman (he's 2.9 and doesn't know who they are anyway) stupid slogans about how naughty boys are. But mostly camouflage.

I like animals, stars, stripes up to a point (a bit ubiquitous) and checks.

Yy to skulls. And pirates. Why?!

And why oh why do no trousers ever stay up? Who are these fat kids they make the trousers for? I dont see them. Other kids look as skinny as mine.

I have a son and a daugther. I love horizontal stripes, wavy patterns, checks and stars for both.

I like camouflage for my DS and I like spots, bold funky flowers, and fruit patterns for my DD.

I hate seeing young children in animal prints. And it's not a pattern but I really dislike the t-shirt designs with a chimp wearing sunglasses, or a dog or cat with a bow.

My son is 6 and I find it quite difficult to find clothes that I like for him...it seems to go from toddler clothes with a train, fire engine or dinosaur on, to kind of surfy t-shirts which to me look better suited to a teenager. Unless you go for the chimp with sunglasses or silly slogan ones. Boden does his age pretty well but I can't afford to buy Boden all the time!

drspouse I think I love you. Have been searching for a pattern like that for AGES!

Also can I clarify when I said animal patterns I meant like owls, sheep etc. animals prints I hate hate hate.

I also HATE the tshirts with monkey wearing sunglasses etc!

I also wish there was more neutral colours for boys and girls, yellows and greens and reds and oranges etc rather than pink blue and white!!

I love frugi for bits that are bold and different but gender neutral. I got a loveley dungaree set that is light blue with yellow ducks on it, that would have looked right on a boy or a girl. Great quality too

Loves stripes and checks on boys! HATE HATE HATE slogans, the worst being "Here comes trouble!" Or "Mummy's Little Boy". Yuck yuck.

For boys, if it is BabyGap I probably like it...

MyFirst you are very welcome, this might be sort of my specialist subject. Have you come across Ottobre patterns?

I am thinking next time I may make it with a skater skirt style rather than gathered.

I detest camouflage, we have family in a part of the world where it's big for boys to go hunting with their dads when older so babies get given little camo outfits. Pink for the girls. Spew.

Love stripes, hate checks, not bothered about spots, hate camouflage, hate pictures, hate skulls, hate logos, don't mind a discreet flower or butterfly.

I have girls. I generally like small rather than big patterns. I like stars, stripes, flowers, spots (prefer small dots to big spots though). Would love snowflakes or other interesting geometric patterns, but haven't seen any. I had a lovely skirt when I was a child with a repeating frog print, I'd love something like that for the DC - anything interesting like that, little houses, little animals, birds, insects, fish, fruit... I like bright colours, but not too garish. Don't mind gingham, or chequered patterns, but not mad about them.

I dislike animal-skin print, camouflage print, hotchpotch (is that what it is called? When there are lots of clashing patterns) I don't really like big swirly patterns, or neon colours, or too much black/dingy colours. I hate skull print, but you don't tend to get them much on girls clothes anyway.
