Can you wise people pool your collective, creativeideas onto this thread for me?
For my dd's 1st birthday I'm doing an Under the Sea party. There'll be about 8 kiddies there, from 1 to 2yo and one 4 yo.

So far I've ordered a foil fish hanging decoration, some green and blue netting, some treasure chest party boxes, some green crepe paper for sea weed .... can anyone think of some lovely, original ideas to make my livingroom look "under the sea" apart from fill it with water?!
Thanks in advence

could you stick fish round the walls? cut them out of paper... and crabs and things as well

erm.. if you can find some holographic/reflective foil paper stuff then hang it in strips by the windows it should create a nice light effect like being under the sea

What about for food, making jelly but putting plastic fish in, maybe not a good idea for the smaller ones though.

what about one of those blue tarpoulin things somehow rigged up so it is a bit like a ceiling and the party goes on under it?

What about one of the coloured light bulbs that you can buy? You could get a blue one to replace your normal one for the duration of the party.

Also, (could be good/could be a disaster), but what about a sandpit and/or waterpit - on top of a large plastic sheet of course!

Jellyfish balloons? White ballons with bubble wrap tenticles.

Fish shaped helium balloons.

Jelly and ice cream served in large shells - as per the 1970s b'day parties I used to attend!

Thank guys! Theya ll sounds great. I particularly like the blue lightbulb idea - not so keen on the empty a sandpit onto the carpet idea!

Sand is a no-no, hate the stuff. I've got a lovely yellow tablecloth that will have to suffice, am bidding on fish and shell shaped cookie cutters on Ebay and a fish shaped jelly mould.

I've seen a pinata in the shape of a treasure chest, but will little ones be able to break it?

Watery music either tapes of you blowing bubbles...or underwater love on repeat...
