those of you who have a cleaner, how much do you pay?

if i get the job i'm hoping to i am determined to have a cleaner. but local agencies quote £9 + an hour! just wondered what everyone pays, i'd thought £6?

I pay £25 she does between 2.5 and 3 hours a week.

I don't care how long she takes, as long it is done.

You will struggle to get someone at £6, do not use agencies, they are truly dreadful.

bree - why are they dreadful? i'd used one before and it meant someone always came although it was always someone different which was a drag

and do you just offer the set amount to do the job? how many bedrooms do you have?

£30 a week for a 3 bed house - we use a company that sends out several cleaners to do one house. They do a pretty good job actually.

£30 once a week, I think she stays about three hours (sometimes more, sometimes less) - don't know exactly as I try not to be at home the whole time she is here.

£8 an hour. would never use an agency, if they're getting £6 an hour, how much is the woman who's cleaning your loo actually getting. you have to get a personal recommendation from someone, and be aware that good cleaners pretty much interview you...

My cleaner asked for £7 an hour, that was a while ago, we paid that to start off with but put it up every six months, she now gets £9 an hour. We pay her if we're away and also if she wants a week off (very rare, she's only asked for one twice in two years) and we give her a Christmas bonus. We're in London.

so if agency charges £9/hour the cleaner is getting around £7 i reckon. if thats what the cost is i'd rather spend it on her and guess she might be more loyal?

£7 an hour for a minimum of 2 hours a week plus an agency fee of £100 a year.

The agency (london based) we use is very reliable, have used them for years, in fact my old flatmate cleaned for them. You pay the agency their yearly fee and the cleaners their money direct, the cleaners don't have to pay a proportion to the agency or a fee for signing on or anything, I checked.

The agency vets the cleaners, replaces them if they don't work out and makes sure you have holiday cover etc. So all good I reckon.

Don't, repeat, don't use the agencies that push flyers through your door, they are generally the ripper offers.

All the good agencies work on word of mouth really.
