I'm 'hiding' more and more threads.........are you?

Ignoring doesn't work for me - especially if a thread keeps bobbing up to the top of active conversations, so I hide, hide, hide.....do you?

What are your 'thread hiding' criteria?

I tend to hide the ones that have TMI in the title, especially about tragic child death/abuse.

I do, and I'd prefer not to have to open them first. I'd like to click a 'hide' button beside each thread I don't want to read, rather than open the thread then click hide. Am I being too fussy?

No Aero, completely agree with you, I'd prefer if I didn't have to click first too.

Have just hidden 'i've burped sick' and shall shortly be hiding 'why don't ginger people dye their hair'. I must be turning into an old 'crank' as these don't amuse me.

I think I've opted out of sticky ones.
I set 'mymumsnet' to 'teflon'

Also hide obvious attention seeking posts, and those where posters ignore all good advice (my patience and sympathy runs out), and posters who get hostile/abusive when given good advice they don't agree with.

Hiding the 'sexual celery' thread next.

I don't hide very many now but I do ignore a lot. I.e. in current 100 active convos, I'm only dipping into 12 threads.

I only hide if I find the title very offensive, tbh. And I have to click and hide, iyswim.

I don't like that they changed it - you used to be able to ignore from Active Convos - but back then I only used to get half a dozen or so convos coming up cos I was ignoring so many.

Sour person that I am, thinking I shall shortly re-do my settings to eliminate the 'baby names' topic. Unbelievable how many separate threads there are every week!

I have lots of topics hidden, I think.

Consequently I am rather confused by the whole buy/sell thing. Would love to know if a mumsnetter or their DH or child has a bass guitar plus amp going cheap but don't know where to post. DH is watching ebay.....

Not hiding any at all.

I can hide indivdual threads in active convo's.

There is a hide button next to the thread title, I don't have to open the thread to do it.

You need to change you're settings, go to customise talk board at top of page and put yes where it says 'put hide on active convo's'

PinkTulips · 03/08/2008 23:56

erm.... i can still hide from active covoes?

i'm doing a major spring clean as we speak as there as so many farking boring ones lurking at the top and i've posted on anything interesting.

also hide things irrelavant to me like the veggie eating dieters and the scuttlebuggers as they never leave active convoes if you don't

Yes I do,

  1. Horror threads from In the ghouls News
  2. 4-person convos
  3. Huuuuge cliques
  4. Most post-natals
  5. Plain dull or mean-minded 'pinions
  6. Shall I leave hims

should hide the milk ones, but don't.

the ginger hair one is a total piss-take and am enjoying it. Hide it if you must but it is not what you think it is.

THanks HughJarssss!
Hadn't clocked that last I diddled wit' me settings.
Milk ones are totally insane. SSSOOOO much inferred judgement.

And if you've been knocking around mn long enough, you see the same old same old, and ignore that too. Hence

k) deja-vu

Yes, I am also hiding more threads. Wish could hide users, too.
