Help me find this couple.

OK I know I've started another thread in Chat about the wedding video I found disguised as a Billy Connolly video but I'd really like to return it to the couple, it doesn't feel right keeping it and disposing of it doesn't seem right either.

It's a bit of a long shot but perhaps some MN recognises this wedding or these people.

So far all I have to go on is

If the date on the video camera is correct the wedding took place 11 August 2001.

The Groom is called John(helpful I know) he's like a young Oliver Reid.
I'm trying to listen out for the bride's name but she's very tall, rather gothic looking with long flowing black hair.

Bestman is Paul.

Pageboy is Sonny. Bridesmaids include Izzy and flower girl, though referred to as a bridesmaid is Emily.

The reception was held in a huge marquee, there was a female solo violinist at the wedding ceremony.

At the reception there's a sort of Country and Western style band, who aren't terribly tuneful.

I'll post more as I learn more, doubt I'll ever find out but it's worth a try.

Oh and judging by the accents the wedding is in the south of England.

The video was found in Glasgow for some reason.

I don't know where it takes place it shows you the interior and exterior of the church but no name can be seen.

why dont you ring the local paper where you bought the video from? I am sure they would do a little piece in the paper for you!!

I was given the video by someone who had purchased it from a charity shop, it was in a Billy Connolly video case.

If I do find out the location of the church I'll certainly ring the local paper.

Could you use a digital camera to grab a still of the church (or even of the key participants) and post it here? Someone might well recognise the church.

Here are a few, poor quality pics.

I'll add more later.

No, don't recognise anyone so far. How sad...

Report
falcon · 26/07/2008 13:12

I'll upload pics of the guests as soon as I can.

I hope someone recognises them as I have a feeling some guy got in big trouble for losing the video.

falcon - if someone recognised the church you could just contact the priest/vicar to find out who was married there on that date

I said on the other thread - I love the bride's hair!

They looked far too young to be getting hitched, so maybe they are divorced now and don't want the video...? trying to make you feel better by the way - not being cynical at all...

I'd get in touch with the papers anyway, they can run pics and see if anyone knows anything.

Oh, I'm not suggesting falcon shouldn't try to find the owner, not at all...I would try too. Definitely.

I meant without knowing who anyone is or the church. The paper will print stills and people will recognise them.

I'd even contact the daily papers. At this time of year they someitmes struggle for a story and although they might not publish anythign to start with, they might keep it on file until they have a really boring week for story liens and then print something. You never know.

OK There's also holiday footage on the video, footage of people in the caves, on the beach etc.

I really want to get it back to them now as you can't replace memories like these and there are kids in it.

I presume the video belongs to the person who filmed the wedding and not the happy couple.

its worth trying to track them down.

our wedding video was stolen along with the video camera in was in at the time, when in-laws home was robbed.
