Would it cost alot to find trace someone ????

Want to trace an old school friend. Have tried Fr etc but am getting nowhere.

I am a bit wary of sites where you pay to search the electoral role, paud 7 quid the other week and found nowt out.

Ideally i want to search the electoral role (last few years) and marraiges and deaths.

Anyone know of a genuine site that will let me do this and dosesn't cost a fortune ????

Don't know of any sites like that - but (may sound wierd I know) have you tried 'googling'?? I've found a couple of old friends like that

If you put the persons name in " "'s - ie "Joe Bloggs" and search UK only and perhaps also add the name of the town you last know she lived in you 'may' find something out.

Perhaps another way - offline - is to write to the local paper whereever it was you went to school with her - they may publish it in their letters section and someone may be able to help??

How about us???? Maybe we might know of someone you are looking for. You never know!

That's true Sparkler - you never know who other people know (or even ARE!) without asking.

Did think of that Sparkler but it's doubtful really isn't it ??

Google nearly made me fall of me chair for a mo, but then i read it properly and realised it was nothing.

Whereabouts did you go to school, Nutty? Surely someone on MN would know someone who knows someone

Blimey essbee 300 quid , i only want to know if he is still alive and doing ok

He is registered on FR and i did email him 3 times but never got any replies. He doesn't have a profile on ther so no pointers there, and i asked another couple of people we noth knew and no one has seen or heard from him since about a year after we left school, which i think is very odd.

Is it local to you?

You can look at the local electoral registers at your library for free.

"they are male"

well perhaps one of us are married to him!!! though not me I can almost 100% guarantee that LOL

(should make searching easier anyhow without having to worry about what his married name could be (unless he's gay and living with his long term partener and has changed his name by deed poll to his partneres!!)

You have to ask in the reference library.

I think your local one is on the Second floor of the library building

Meant to say also, that i have rung the old phone number i had for him but it is out of use.

I do have his old address but don't really want to go door knocking unless i am sure he is there.

I was thinking the other day if we could have a "does anyone know of this person..." thread - there's a couple of old friends I'd like to trace. But it feels a bit wierd naming names for real on here.

I know what you mean Turquiose, and plus there aren't that many brummies on here so i doubt anyone would have a clue.

I dunno should i start a thread asking ?? What do you reckon ???

Same here Turquoise - then you have to think would that person appreciate being named on here don't you. You have to be a bit careful - although 99.9% of people on here are probably genuine there are the odd ones who can cause problems.

No problem,

You may be better off trying Birminghan Central Library as they should have all the registers for the area
