Front Door Stuck - help!

Our front door's been getting worse and worse due to the damp. It tooks us about 5 minutes to get it open and 2 deliveries today - I had to get the delivery man to kick it open. It's a bit dangerous!!! Anyone got any tips???

Its just swelling from the damp - don't be tempted to trim it or it won't fit later. Just run a candle down the side or even a bit of butter - as long as its greasy and it will work wonders. I have a feeling that pencils work as well - or was that with zips!

thanks Katherine. How often the butter? Salted or unsalted? (ok just kidding) candle - melted?

Crayons work as well - just choose a matching colour to your doorstep!

Lakeland catalogue do an excellent silicon lubricant which I've used on my sticking doors. I used candles until then, but this stuff is better.

HB pencils work with zips and keys.

I read a wonderful piece of advice somewhere (probably in an old Readers' Digest).
You only need 2 items of DIY equipment. WD40 and Duck tape.
If it moves and it's not meant to, use the Duck tape. If it's supposed to move and it doesn't, use the WD40.

WD40 is a spray on oil basically. Our large TEscos sell in in the little "car" section, other than that, DIY stores.

Duck Tape is basically heavy duty selotape.

I can't imagine life being possible without WD40!! It's so useful, just as Lambchop says. I love the smell of it, too.

Actually, if you're out of WD40, extra virgin olive oil works quite well too - stopped my front door creaking. Much more expensive mind.
