Oh my, what have I done? Everyone knows about the toothfairy, have you heard of the toenail clipping fairy?

DD is in danger of having ingrowing toenails. She hates them being cut and I have a real battle to do the deed.
Anyway, last night I had the bright idea of telling her that if she was a good girl and had her nails cut, we could put them in a little box beside her bed and the toenail fairy would take them away and leave a surprise for her.

So we duely cut the talons and put the disgusting body parts in a little box.

Well, guess who forgot to put a little something in the box last night?

And guess what the first thing DD asked me this morning?

I told her the toenail fairy was busy, and maybe she would come today while DD was at nursery.

So - anyone any suggestions what I could leave in the box in place of toenail clippings?

Yes go for something small (sweet, sticker etc) to keep expectations low.

Or a very small amount of money (bearing in mind that each child produces only 20 teeth for the tooth fairy but an unlimited supply of toenail clippings).

I was told that if I cut my nails on Fridays or Sundays the witches would put them to some undefined evil purpose.

stickers hit the spot.

She wanted her nails cut again this morning

They will be down to stumps soon.

Brilliant Gingerbear! The tooth fairy came late to our house many, many times also. We had many excuses here, "the tooth came out ahead of schedule", we were "informed of a redundancy" (so one tooth fairy had to do the work of two), the fairy got sick with a cold...etc.

I think you should save the toenails for the fairy to make a collage

I'm sure the arts and crafts board will have lots of ideas for how to do this

what a clever idea. I had a toenail monster who would come and nibble on your toenails when they got too long, so i told the kids that they had to remind me to cut their nails so the toe nail monster wouldn't wake them up. I think the toe nail fairy is much nicer. How about nail polish a a present?
