What do you mean by 'Staycations'? Day trips from home or holidays in the UK?

Chemenger · 19/10/2021 11:39

What ChickenSchnitzel said - if you are going to use a word that is well known to have two definitions you need to specify which you mean, otherwise the responses are meaningless.

Chemenger · 19/10/2021 11:40

We usually holiday in the UK and abroad each year, so I'm not sure how to answer Q3.

I have answered with staycation meaning you stay at home and do day trips - because that's what it means!!!

The survey assumes you haven't holidayed abroad in 2020 or 2021, or that if you holidayed in the UK this was not the norm for you.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 19/10/2021 21:18

The questions about staycations ... scrap the word staycation and take "(holidays in the UK)" out of the brackets.

That was a VERY long survey. Will be interested to see the targeted ads I now get as a result.

Powaqa · 20/10/2021 00:19

The questions seem to presume that you normally go abroad for a holiday. We have never gone abroad

vouchers to be won

For what?

Be honest mumsnet, this has been rushed through hasn’t it?!

I started this but gave up on it. I haven't been on holiday so far this year but will be going abroad in December - there's no way to indicate this.

I also thought all the "family holiday" questions were a bit ambiguous. My family consists of me and DH so that's why we make all the holiday decisions.

Done. The budget question seemed nonsensical unless they correlate it to the number of people in your household (they may well do).

Lightisnotwhite · 24/10/2021 15:13

Yes an odd survey. My husband and I have been on holiday this year and so separately has my son and I.
Very different holidays and for different reasons. The who choose ps the holiday was impossible. I do if it’s me and my child. DH and I do it together if it’s just us.

there's an option to say you don't do family holidays - but you still have to answer a gazillion questions about them?

myrtilles · 26/10/2021 18:48

Completed but found it frustrating. Firstly the incorrect use of the word staycation. Secondly the assumption no one went abroad this summer. Finally the most annoying thing was that it only asks about flights. Why doesn’t the questionnaire ask if people have travelled or are travelling by Eurostar, Eurotunnel or ferry?

PicaK · 26/10/2021 21:43

Stay cation means staying at home... In your house!! Not just having a holiday in the UK!!

Kite22 · 26/10/2021 22:39

Like so many others, you lost me at the use of 'staycation' when you mean 'holiday'.
We often take holidays around the UK. A Staycation is when you stay at home when you are taking leave from work.

FictionalCharacter · 27/10/2021 01:09

Oh dear MN, from the replies above this sounds like a very badly designed questionnaire.

remainsofthesummer · 27/10/2021 05:07

I live in Asia and the questions don't really fit my situation.
