not sure how true that is. I ate and ate hot spicy foods with DD1. Totally addicted to big meaty currys, chilli, BBQs etc - real spicy carnivore. DD1 is a veggie, non spicy girl who has always disliked meat and can?t stand anything remotely spicy (even crisps in anything other than plain are too "spicy" for her!)
DD2 I had major cravings for milkshakes and smoothies. She won?t touch anything like it and hates milky drinks

I craved vegetables and healthy food in the first two trimesters - a real extreme craving to the point where I burst into tears one night when dh cooked something fattening without veg!

Don't like fruit, though and ds would eat fruit four times a day and nothing else given the chance.

I pretty mush OD'ed on broccoli and salmon, dd likes both but there are plenty of foods I ate regularly that she does not like atm

seems to have a huge love of chocolate not my fault honest guv

I love cheese and am sure I ate lots of it when p/g - never go a day without eating cheese. Ds really doesn't like it. Will only have a little mild cheddar occasionally.

I don't believe it. Certainly not true ime.

what rot!

and the stuff about green beans is just nuts. Most children reject things at the first presentation of them, but will eat them eventaully if it keeps being offered.

just another thing to make us feel guilty about our dietary choices whilst pregnant I think.

although DD does have a taste for chocolate and I guzzled it like it was going out of fashion when pregnant. But....sweet and sticky and pretty damn delicious; what's not to like!

What a crock of shit. TMI alert - I had the worst constipation when pregnant with DS1 and had to eat about 15 portions of fruit and veg a day to keep it moving. DS1 has always been a fussy eater.

I think it is true. I ate tomatoes every day with DS1 and he still loves them now age 7.

I don't know - it does make sense to me, as flavours from food do pass through into breastmilk

and it bears out IME - ds and I both fruit and veg freaks, but I have only bf one child so far and lots of other posters are saying it hasn't worked for them

Have non identical twins both obviously in the womb at the same time and drank the same breast milk( albeit only for 6 weeks) 1 ate anything from day 1, the other very fussy from day 1 so clearly utter pifle!!!!!!

load of shite.
I was sick as a dog the minute I got pregnant, the smell of vegetables made me heave (to the point I had to stop going to the canteen for fear of vomiting everywhere). I couldn't even look at meat, though could stand the odd piece of chicken or fish fingers.
I lived off crisps and bread, very very smooth mash potatoe with fish fingers.
My daughter - well, she eats pretty much everything. She loves vegetables (she's the only child I know who asks for more peas!) loves fruit, and all the food I couldn't eat when pregnant.

Are Krispy Kremes best given as finger food or pureed d'ya think?

dd's favourite veg is broccoli, when i was pg i used to throw up at the thought of it. so i say booooooollox to this.

bullshit.

i live for hot, spicy foods.

i love them so much, i'll eat them with a bottle of Gaviscon right next to me.

neither one of those girls likes the tiniest bit of heat in their food.

StellaDallas · 17/07/2008 22:13

It is so not true. If so, the DDs would love chana masala with a passion bordering on lunacy.
Also jam doughnuts. Oh, wait...

we had a major hooray moment in the badkitten household tonight. dd (8) has always hated spicy food until recently when shes had some mild curries.
Tonight I had the dried chili bits out for my pizza she asked to try some.
She carefully placed one bit on her tongue and said 'interesting, it gives you a burning sensation in your mouth, its really nice' then she took a pinch of them and after a glass of water declared them delicious.
thats my girl!

I ate a chocolate bar every day whilst pregnant with DS. He can't stand the stuff- nor ice cream, sweets, puddings, cakes. Only sugar he likes is fruit. I offered him a Malteser the other day and he started crying and asked for an olive.

I have no idea where he gets his strangely healthy tastes from - but it certainly wasn't what I ate when he was in my ice-cream lined tum .

didn't work for me I wish is did.

I ate tons of veggies. I can't even hide them behind kidney beans on DS's fork anymore. They get flung
