How farkin busy are you really when you can't take your kids to be measured for shoes?

Our previous nursery had a hairdressing service - I loved it.

I think it's a great idea.

I was once shocked that my cousin didn't know what size shoe her child took because the nanny did all that stuff !!

well I think you should take your children to do these things, not farm it out

but I am sat in the sun and am too hot so maybe am in an unnecessary rage

I have time to take my dd to get shoes fitted but not for much else. If I could find someone do to the ironing, dry cleaning, make fresh food for dd it would give me more time to do fun stuff with dd.

I don;t see it as the end of the world if dd gets her feet measured at nursery though.

When you see the way some children create at hairdressers and shoe shops, then I can quite understand parents not being able to fit those tasks in.

I am a FTM, with relatively well-behaved ds1 and dd, who like shoe-shopping, as well as a baby. Yet I buy them shoes one at a time whenever possible, as a visit to a shoe shop with all three is exhausting. If I didn't have the time to do this, or a dh with whom to leave the non-shopping children, I would seriosuly consider using a foot-mearuing service if it was offered at school.

who cares what you'd prefer to do with that hour .. maybe you'd prefer to take them swimming or cycling or picnic or something .. maybe you don't want to be dashing round the shops?

I'm a SAHM .. would be happy if kids could have haircuts at school and feet measured

which reminds me ..almost certain DS needs new trainers

I think it sounds like a great service, tbh. Weekend time with your children is precious, whether you are a SAHM or a WOHM - who wants to use it shoe-shopping or getting haircuts?

Sounds a really good idea. That sort of thing would attract me to use a nursery that offered that service.

yes, they like it as we make it a special day out and go for lunch etc

What a great idea. I think it's perfectly possible to be too busy to get your child's hair cut or feet measured, they're not exactly fun tasks are they?

Hang on, we both work ft oth, I leave the house at 7 thirty am and get back about 6.30pm, both times all the shops are shut. OK, I'm at home on Fridays but I'd rather be in the library/baking cakes/reading books/doing something NICE with my dd rather than traipsing around a bloody shoe shop.

I don't see the problem.

measure feet, they bring out the shoes, we fight over hideous ones, buy nice ones, go

anyway, it is not JUST the shoes, it is the fact that we are all supposed to sooooo busy these days for what I see as normal stuff and have to farm it out
