Washing on New Years Day...

kd73 · 01/01/2010 17:38

Has anyone done any clothes washing today and would they normally wash clothes on New Years Day?

Superstition says wash on New Years Day and wash a member of the family away... does anyone observe this?

I bunged a load in this morning, without giving it a moment's thought! I don't hold with superstitions

God I never heard that before!
Have done loads of washing as heating's on and good way to get it dry. Against my better judgement have been into DS1's bdroom while he is away for NY floor is strewn with disgusting foul mix of dirty clothes, tissues, plates etc etc. Would normally leave it but I know that he will try and get it all clen 12 hrs before returning to university, resulting in heavy use of the tumble dryer. So I have outwitted him

I have never heard this before and my mum is very supersitious.

DH has something in the washer now. Probably dd1's ready bed. Some one widdled in it and she is having a sleepover tommorrow.

I've never heard that one before. And as we only got back from a trip to Ireland yesterday, yes, the washer has been on here.

I've never done washing on New Years Day.

But then, I've never cleaned, washed myself, ironed, cooked or paid attention to anything going on around me on New Years Day for years! I'm usually to hung over or tired to care!

No washing - done last night whilst out. Have done some tumble drying though. I wonder if there is any associated superstition (never heard of the washing one).

If I miss one days washing the backlog is so immense I can never catch up.
