Morning all

mission

We had a great day yesterday pics here

I need to seriously work on the house though.

DH has the week off, so I am hoping he will take DS' brambling today and also DS1 to swimming lessons.

We both had really nasty headaches last night, but at least I managed some sleep, he on the otherhand was up till silly o'clock. So I got up with the boys at 6.30.

I will be back with my zone clean and todo list in a mo

Did my labelling last night, all done thank goodness.
Need to call a friend to discuss cakes for her daughter's christening - I'm a bit worried about it actually as I'm going to a wedding Saturday and the christening is Sunday and I've promised to make 100 cupcakes - don't think I can physically do it! So I am worried over phoning her to explain Should think before I offer to do good deeds I can't do. Still can do all the other cakes I'm doing though.
not dressed yet here, DC are dancing to a nursery rhyme cd in ds's bedroom. Just checking the bank account - eek! We have our large credit card bill to pay with the new oven on it [cringe emo] and i'm fretting about it. I am on a bit of a spending splurge atm ... and don't have the funds really! Every now and again I go on a life's too short type splurge and buy stuff we want/need/covet . Atm it's an ipod for me and an iphone for DH!
See you later!

hi wendy scatty tea

I have managed to get a load in the washing machine and do breakfast but not much else yet plus I really should be studying.

Yes scatty I am not in the UK I am in Istanbul. We have been here for about 2.5 months now but I have not lived in the Uk for 5 years since just after DS1 was born.
I have lived in germany and china over the past 5 years.

Morning all.
Not awake or dresses yet! Had a bad night, couldn't get to sleep. I think i finally dropped off just before am!

My most important job today is to label school clothes!

Sending hugs and best wishes to Bianca (I know she doesn't come here very often) because her DS has very badly broken his other elbow . Having surgery on it today. Poor boy only months ago got over breaking his other elbow.

Need to go to the shop later otherwise DC will have very empty lunch boxes tomorrow! DD1 is already saying she's not going to school and that she hates school.

Painter coming today to do front door and windows after 12 years .
Spent all of last night crying over Wuthering Heights, then another hour speed reading book and crying some more. Dh is fed up with me.
He put up shelves yesterday, but was FOUL in process, so Scatty a happy hole puncher is to be preferred.

Thousands of things to do will post them later.

Hi Tortoise,
You are very clever to be able to MN in you sleep

thankfully my 2 especially the younger one is very excited about going to preschool he keep taking out a small backpack we bought for him over the weekend and saying "mummy I go to school. I am big and have muscles"

Hopefully your DD just has the jitters after the school holidays and will ease back in to it as school starts.

swan I wasn't impressed with wuthering heights at all, didn't watch it last night. I LOVE the book though. Just don't think any tv adaptation can match up! Glad you enjoyed it. I'm obsessed with those Twilight books atm, I have got post Twilight disorder or something and don't feel like reading anything else!
My DS can't wait to start school next Tuesday for us. When does everyone else start?

Report
Tortoise · 01/09/2009 09:33

Lol am a bit more awake now!

DD1 has never really enjoyed school. She spent her 1st year of school crying every morning. She didn't cry last year but still often said she didn't want to go. Sure she will be ok once we get there tomorrow.

I better get up and get dressed. So so tired.

morning all,

Tort, thanks for letting us know about Bianca's son. I too need to do labeling but I have to take the buttons from the adjustable waists, they make a horrid mark on DS1's skin and it makes him cry.

Wendy do you make alot of cakes? depending how you store them you could make the cupcakes on Friday, they will still be fine for Sunday. What frosting are you putting on them? School here returns on Thursday so I am enjoying my last couple of days of freedom.

Leo - wow istanbul - what is it like living there? It is on DH & my list of places to visit. Don't you just love it when the littlies get excited about stuff great that they want to go to preschool!

Swan - 12 years! you should notice a huge difference once is it done.. how exciting. hope you are going well with today's list.

TeaMonster, we love our national trust and english heritage memberships, the best christmas gift we recieve each year!

Have boring stuff to do today, but am going to save it for when DS2 sleeps this afternoon. We are on our way out to the park for the morning. Back later.

Report
scattyspice · 01/09/2009 09:40

tort I think we may have some of that with ds this year as yr2 is more serious I think.

swan I was a jibbering wreck after wuthering heights too! I hadn't expected anything quite so bloodthirsty (haven't read the book) I was expecting a gentle costume drama lol.

leo wow what a globe trotter! Are you a forces family or do you just have wanderlust?

Running late now .

Morning again

greyskull DS1 starts on Monday, but has an inset day on Friday. We are making the most of our family time. It is the end of an era

Tort Thanks for the heads up about Bianca's DS - poor little mite

Leo Wow to your travelling - are you a forces wife????

I didnt watch wuthering heights and I am also ashamed to say that I have never read the book either, although I have read all of dickens. I found Tess really depressing and couldnt face another Thomas Hardy if it was anything like than

OK Dones

Dressed
DH up and dressed
Beds made
S&S loos
Washer on again

We are off berry picking in a mo, so will crack on after that. I think it will be a lunch outside.

my head hurts too now, deciding with painter which bit to do before rain sets in..conversing about life and marriage with him whilst trying to blot out various beeps from dcs on electronic equipment.

Wuthering Heights - WendyEnglishTeacher is there meant to be something about unreliable narrators in it and windows? Well they did do windows a bit I suppose.

Now list
hoover my bedroom (sawdust)
cut back ivy from back window, vine from front or poor painter can't do anything
get kids out of house to park asap
dh has gone to work having put his back out kicking both defective lawnmower and shelves - but he has rung me sounding more cheerful, think he is relieved to be in nice office environment again
develop pictures of hols

dd has come back from sleepover in good spirits - invited by her friend who has both a loft extension AND a kitchen extension in progress yet still invites people round, a very nice lady wish I could be more phlegmatic.

no I am not a forces wife. for some random reason my dh's company keeps moving us around. DH sorts out their finances in new sectors so once its done then they move us on. plus I miss my friends back home.
Istanbul is lovely but I think we are both ready to come back home now living abroad in new places ever few years is quite hectic but on the plus side the weather here is lovely and its stopped raining.

Anyway I have
stripped the beds
hung the washing out

Yes swan the two narrators of the book are Nelly - wildly unreliable - and Lockwood, who they missed out in the tv adaptation. Windows feature strongly as metaphors for lots of things - often sexual! The book is very violent and the love story, although an overriding arch of the story, isn't prominent in the narrative, really. It's a masterpiece!
