DD has a pathological need to wander around dribbling large lumps of toothpaste everywhere and now the carpet looks as if it's been sh**t on by birds!

Me as well - I even sprayed some carpet cleaner this morning but forgot to go back later on to rub it in. Hoovered over it and a bit has taken out of it but not much.

Baby wipes have cured all manner of things for me. No idea if they'd work on toothpaste, but given their past form I'm sure they would!

Good idea - I'll give them a go , you're quite right they do get a lot of stuff out. Some of it is very dried on though.

Watching this as I also have a rather large dried up blob on bathroom carpet

toothpaste thats dried can often be scraped up with a blunt knife, (carefull with the carpet),hoover up the bits, then use warm water to wash out the residue... if its wet id get most of with damp cloth then attack with cleaning spray like "stain slayer" or "de-solvit". soda water is good for shifting stubborn stains too...... id probably end up using my steam cleaner on it though....... is marvelous.

Thanks llareggub the baby wipes worked - well along with quite a lot of elbow grease - just one on a very old grubby carpet wouldn't quite come up, bright blue on cream - perhaps a steam cleaner would be a good investment!

my little boy has twice this month got the toothpaste and got it everywhere in my living room i have leather sofas so that wasnt a problem but getting it out of the carpet was a right pain in the a*e. i had white stains everywhere and not to metion i scrubbed for 2 hours solid to get it out. but yesterday he did it again we were on our way out so i left it all day and let me tell you it was so much easier to clean when it had dried especially on the carpet all i had to do was scrap off the top layer of globby paste that had dried and clean any small residue underneath took me about 30 mins and you wouldnt even know my darling child had unleashed a whole tube of toothpaste in the living room

mouthwash?? i would say a bit of fairy liquid and water is a solve all for me
or maybe white sprit vinegar would dissolve it enough to wipe off
