Would you / how would you clean your washing machine after washing doggy diarrhoea covered bedding in it?

Dog had diarrhoea. Her bedding is covered and I will be washing it on 90 degrees centigrade.

But urrghh, I am feeling a bit queasy about putting our own things in to wash after using the machine to wash doggy diarrhoea covered stuff. Probably am being completely irrational.

Any suggestions about what special measures I should take to clean the machine afterwards - if any?

Maybe just stick it on another cycle with washing powder.

I would wash some old tea towels or similar on a 90 degree hot wash with powder so the machine isn't running empty.

just another cycle, if you like put a drop of bleach in, but I don't think you need to worry really.

Yes. Run it on the hottest cycle possible with a cup of soda crystals straight in the drum.

i wouild not wash dogy diarhoea in my washing machine.
i would throw itall in thebin. including themattrees. but then, i wouldnt have a dog in the house as i think they are dirty animals.

however, if you treated it the same way as i would treat dirty nappies, then there is no reason to wash the machine. self cleaning iyswim. at most, you coul always runit on an empty cycle.

I'm sure it's clean, but I know how you feel. Take heart from a thread a while ago on which someone said they often washed their used doggy-poo bags after forgetting to take them out of pockets.

Ok - I would prefer to run the machine again on a 90 degree cycle for my own peace of mind, must admit. Just feel a bit guilty that the 90 degree programme is a 2 hour cycle...

Normally I am eco-warriorish about these things but I say just do the 90 cycle without the guilt, it's only a one-off.

my washing machine on 90 is a 2 hours cycle too and its a year old.

I woould have thrown the bedding away. But then, I throw pillows away if dcs have been sick on them. Why isn't there a guilty emoticon?

Mine's a Bosch too. Must have got a naff model!

Couldn't really throw bedding away - it was a good bed, cost about £20 (must explain - I have a big dog so big bed...imagine the volume of diarrhoea!)

After we wash our dogs bedding we put another 90 deg wash on and add some dettol rather than washing powder.
