Zoflora tips (this is my best one so far)

Teenage sons trainers are stinky. We have a tiny utility room (more of a cupboard really) that fits in the washer, dryer, laundry basket, plus shoe and coat rack. The smell of his trainers can permeate the whole space and beyond.

Last night I folded up two sheets of kitchen roll into slim rectangles, sprinkled each with half a cup of Zoflora, and slipped them into his trainers. This morning his trainers were fresh as a daisy, as was the utility cupboard and hall. It's a sodding revelation.

Not only that, but when you take the kitchen roll out of the trainers and put it in the recycling bin, it freshens the bin too.

Good god, what have I become.

I'm trying this one on some eleventh-hour Nikes right now. I go through trainers like you wouldn't believe (I'm a personal trainer). I bloody love Zoflora.

I'm going to put some in the bottom of my shoe rack! Thank you!

Half a cup???
I'm not surprised!

Do you mean half a cap?

What flavour Zoflo do you recommend for trainers?

(I recently sprinkled mine with the contents of an Ambipur fragrance bottle!)

I'm imagining your son leaving a waft of lavender with every footstep...

Half a cup?!

I wondered about the cup too, seemed a lot. I did a cap, plus a little water, to make half a cup. (Try saying that after a big Gin) Pink grapefruit flavour.

I'm worried I should have just used half a cap neat now.

Which "flavour" did you use op? I love finding new tips :)

Sorry, I meant half a cap. Grin

I used Hello Spring, which I intitially thought I didn't like, but it has grown on me. I like the Twilight Garden and the Bluebell Woods ones too.

My flat is filled with sanitary towels in hidden places, soaked in zoflora. Especially good behind radiators and in the cubby hole where the bin lives.

Is this how witches bottles started?

Don't mean to derail this, as I love zoflora! However, anything smelly - inc trainers - need washing with washing stuff called Halo. Get it from Sainsbury's. I think Tescos do a similar own brand thing.

Kills all nasty smells. All gym kit. Bras. Smelly socks. Trainers. It's a miracle, I tell you.

Shock the sanitary pad tip is genius but I don't think I could cope with the embarrassment if a guest saw it! I have been dousing my toilet bush in the holder with about half a bottle, the smell stays really well and you get a nice burst when you use it.

Has anyone tried the new Lavender Escape one? I don't like it, I was gutted. DH came home with three bottles for me the other day and was really chuffed and proud, I don't have the heart to tell him I don't like it!

Thanks AnAirborne, I've heard that stuff recommended on here before - will check it out.

Another favourite Zoflora tip: I have large wheely bins at the side of my house - one for storing blue bag recycling, one for black bin bags full of landfill. Our landfill is collected once a fortnight so you can imagine the smell left in the wheely bin in high summer. A couple of capfuls of neat Zoflora and half a kettle of boiling water swished about in there stops things from becoming really nasty.

AnAirborne - I love Halo. Use it on my gym kit. Along with a splosh of vodka in the fabric conditioner drawer. It's good on sensitive jeans, too - you know, the kind that can't really be washed, more gently misted at 0° by elves at midnight on Tuesdays.

My favourite tip is cotton wool balls soaked in zoflora in the hoover bag, makes the whole place smell lovely

I'm using that on DD2 trainers.

Vodka in the conditioner drawer?!!

Kills (or at least slows down) bacteria, or some such, Breakfast. I use very cheap vodka, it's practically rubbing alcohol. It's not like I'm sloshing Grey Goose around. Well, I do but only in a glass with tonic and lime widges. Since putting fabric conditioner on jeans is verboten, a cap or two of vodka stops them getting that slightly odd smell that low-temp washed denim can get.

Zoflora on the trainers worked a treat, by the way OP. Even a bit diluted.
