Anyone got a Miele condenser tumble dryer?

I really wanted a Miele heat pump one as I hate cleaning the heat exchanger on my crappy Beko condenser dryer, and they are also better energy-wise, but the Miele heat pump dryer won't fit depth wise. However, the Miele condenser dryer will fit. How much of a faff is it to clean the heat exchanger and how often do you have to do it?

Generally love Miele, had two washing machines so bought a dryer too. But the dryers are terrible, notoriously so. Ours was repaired under warranty several times but was never quite right. Miele would not replace it. They were awful. We have a Bosch heat pump dryer and it is superb.

I wouldn't recommend it either, mine has been repaired three times in 18 months under warranty.

I've got one. Had it for about 7 years. I don't think I've ever cleaned the heat exchanger. Blush I've removed it which was pretty easy and did wonder about cleaning it but it never looked that bad and the machine still works. I might have a go at it tomorrow.

Our Miele dryer is fine. The condenser unit needs cleaning but only about once every 2-3 months. It's easy to clean, just run it under the tab and then pop it back in - it's quite shallow in depth so it fits under the tap

Mine is awful. Never again. Takes an age to dry anything at all; needs repairing all the time. I'd pick almost anything over it!

Sorry to hear of very mixed experiences. I wonder if the poor ones are a particular model? I am looking at the:

TDA150C

Which has great reviews on JL. Anyone got this one at all?

Sorry, can't remember what my model was but remember a thread on here where lots of people said similar things. Honestly, never again. Go for the Bosch. It is fantastic.

It's AWFUL. Going to redo kitchen (we've recently moved & whole place needs modernising) & im more excited about getting a vented dryer than anything else.

I am on my third Miele tumble drier (been married over 40 years :) ) and I've not had any problems with any model. I love all the different drying programmes, especially the shirt one.

Hope it works out for you. For what it's worth, I have a condenser and it's fine.

I have the T7644C, now had any problems, have had about 5 years. Only done 1 strip down and clean, and then only because I saw a thread which linked to someone doing it. I will probably do it again next year Smile

Blimey, I don't know what to do now, seems that people have had great or awful experiences. I was all prepared to part with what is a lot of money to me to get something that did a good job, but now I just don't know...

We have a TDA140C Miele which we got last Feb, its fab!
No problems with it yet, its pretty swift too for a condenser dryer

We had a condenser which was used once everyday some times twice. It lasted 8years and owed me nothing.
Just got a heat pump one to replace it. Very happy with it

I have an AEG tumble drier. I've had it about 4 years and never had to clean the condenser unit. I've had two Miele fridge freezers and only bought them because they had 4 freezer drawers whereas most fridge freezers only have 3 freezer drawers. The most recent one was bought 18 months ago and was broken when it was delivered. I wouldn't buy Miele again.

Got new heat pump Miele condenser: takes ages to dry stuff and sheets and duvet covers get all tangled. Not great to be honest.

I've also got an AEG condenser (know that isnt what you asked but anyway...). It is wonderful, very reliable, very economical and I've cleaned the unit maybe 3 times in 3 years.

Thanks for the AEG recommendation, what model do you have?

My AEG is a Protex Lavatherm. I'm at work so will have to see if I can find a model number when I get home. There is no model number on the front of the machine. I bought mine at John Lewis online with 2 year guarantee which could be extended to five years free of charge. I had a Creda tumble drier years ago which caught fire (bedding inside caught fire).

My AEG is model number T75280AC. I've just done a search and it costs around £320. I can't remember how much I paid for mine.

Thanks orzal, I'll look up that model.

Aeg protex lavatherm here too. It's absolutely brilliant. Very economical and has brilliant reviews on ao.com (where I bought it from at a fab price).

Interesting. I have a Miele washing machine and I'm very happy with it. Nine years old now, in use twice a day . I was wondering about a tumble drier.
