Must be powerful - I like to see lines in my carpet! And must be good for the stairs and tiled/wood floors too :)

I cannot lug around my sebo any longer!

I have just got Gtech air ram and the Multi. It is amazing.

I recently went mad and bought a Dyson V8 Absolute. Expensive but totally fantastic for all uses.

I've had a GTech but watch out in case you accidentally run over a shoe lace or anything - it killed mine so I'd never gets other. Dyson all the way here now!!

I also have the Dyson V8 Absolute. It's brilliant. I will never go back to hoiking around a heavy thing that's tied to the wall. Never.

It has a special carpet head which has a powered spinning brush (stripy carpets are very doable!), and you can switch it from normal to max power to maximise suction. You don't have enough battery power to do a whole house on max, but I do 1700 square feet of hard floors on normal (which is more than adequate!) and the stairs carpet on max all in one charge.

The hoover looks good goliath!

Not sure I can justify the price of the V8 ... seems a bit steep for what it is?

V6 animal - very happy

Although my brother designs stuff for a well know brand which involves lots to testing and comparisons. He says Gtech are the best.

I recently bought a Dyspn V6 - the one for hard floors but it has a carpet head attachment too. LOVE IT! I'm still amazed at the fluff/dirt/dust it's picking out the carpets.
Have a look in the Dyson outlet store on eBay. Ours was £180. The charge is more than enough to do a sweep round each evening.

Will look on the outlet - thanks for the tip!

This thread has inspired me to have a look myself. The dyson V8 animal is down to £399 on AO, and there's a code this weekend for another 50 off a spend of £399 : APPLIANCE50

£349 is a crazy amount to spend, but I think it's a relatively good price for a brand new one. I'm going to look around a bit more before I commit though.

Nice find nicecuppatea- I still don't know if I can justify! So expensive!

The Bosch athlet has amazing reviews and SO much cheaper.

We have the dyson animal and I find it rubbish on hard floors and brilliant on carpets.

I have a Bosch athlet, far better than my cordless Dyson, would never go back to Dyson...

I have a Dyson v6 animal and I love it! You wouldn't believe the amount of dog hair it picks up from the stairs alone! And it leaves lines in carpets.

I have a GTech AirRam Mk1 and I think it's shit. Picks up dirt and cat hair only to spit it out again on the next stroke. (Yes I've emptied the dirt out) I usually end up lugging the conventional Dyson up the stairs in the end. Wish I'd gone the whole hog now and got a rechargeable Dyson.

Ordered a V8 Animal earlier. Get 7% off at Curry's through work. Currys are also doing it for £399 with a £50 off voucher so I got it for £325. It's entirely the fault of this thread!

Bosch athlet. Got it for £99 in sale, so probably older model, love it.

Bought a Bosch athlet after seeing it discussed on here. Not disappointed, lives up to the MN hype and substantially cheaper than Dyson.

We have a Bosch Athet, it's great. On level 2 and turbo you get lovely lines in the carpet. We have laminate and tiles downstairs and I can't fault it on them.

Athlet, not athet.

Catcrazy - how come you think the Bosch is better than dyson? On dyson web site they've done a comparison and dyson has 3 x the suction.

I have a Dyson Cordless and I wouldn't recommend it especially if you have pets and a big hairy dog. Yes it's miles better than lugging a massive Hoover around but I hate emptying it as the bits won't all come out I have to empty it frequently and almost always have have to pick out the rubbish and dog hairs as they get stuck. I find this disgusting.
