How do you keep stainless steel things looking nice?

I have a few things in the kitchen: a range cooker, big fridge and two lots of bins (normal and recycling). Things get spilled on and down them, I clean them but it still seems to leave marks and things permanently look a bit smeary.

Is there a magic solution to sparkling stainless steel?

OMG, I'm trying so hard not be be that woman who constantly bangs on about a thing. But.....

I clean my stainless steel with ENJO and cold water, no chemical cleaners at all, the textured cloth attracts and holds all the grease, then the microfiber removes the water and leaves a spotless shine. I'm in Surrey so the hard water is terrible, it copes with that, and it's dealt with my partners minging man bin, in his house.

I have in the past, steamed, baby oiled, scrubbed, cream cleaned, even once used rubbing alcohol, vinegar, lemon juice.

What ever you decide avoid bleach , it corrodes steel, so every time you bleach a sink to get rid of tannin stains you'll be damaging it.

i'm going to climb into my chemical free box now and shut the lid .

What is ENJO? (Sorry for ignorance!)

I just use warm, soapy water and polish with a tea towel.

Climbing back out of her box,

It's a cleaning system made in Austria which has products which will clean every thing in your house, from the baby to the car via kitchen , bathroom, and even the dog, using only cold water. No bleach, no chemical cleaners , it's guaranteed for 2 years with an expected life span of 3 and I'm completely in love with it. which is way any time any one says , how do I ..... my answer is ENJO

It has impeccable green credentials, I could ramble on and on. Just don't get me on what it's doing to my cellulite or my feet ))

I've used it myself for 6 months, my sister and mum for a year, have a look on Youtube. I have signed up to sell it, just last month in fact as there was no one locally to me, I'm going to say that as to be totally honest , but I would recommend it even if I didn't.

Thanks for the explanation!

I have some new microfibre cloths, I might try a bit of elbow grease with one of those first. Just not sure about the drip marks on the bin. Hmmm.

Wipe down with micro fibre cloth and soapy water, dry them with some kitchen paper soaked in a TINY amount of vegetable oil give it a polish. It works amazingly.

Vegetable oil on the drying paper, or as a separate step afterwards? I might try this tomorrow, thanks!

My fridge always looked dreadful until I got a stainless steel microfibre cloth. Now I use that and a spray on stainless steel cleaning product and everything is shiny.

I used Viakal on my stainless steel sink and drainer. Probably ruined it!

I like the sound of Enjo though.

Baby Oil shines up a stainless steel sink - haven't tried it on anything else, but assume it would work the same.

Hot soppy water or method spray using one cloth, followed by a dry microfibre cloth.

I've got a brushed steel range and was close to ditching it because it looked terrible. There was serious water stains, big long streaks that looked like they were there for life. Someone suggested barkeepers friend - the cooker looks like new! I'm absolutely amazed at the difference. I am going to look into the ENJO though as a long term plan, thanks for the tip.

Thanks all, lots of things to try. Will start with the soapy water and microfibre cloth and then cif. Failing that I will try bar keepers friend on any stubborn stains left!

I use Slosh kitchen cleaner. Another Green product. I love it and it smells of Clementines.
Google them They are great if you are rural and have a septic tank.
Astonish do a good stainless steel spray too. I get mine in the 99 shop.
