Super noisy washing machine!

Ok so I tend to do all my washing over the weekend as I just don't have time during the week so I wouldn't say I'm using it more than the typical household. ( 1 child, me and DH probably about 4-5 washes ) Just recently when it's in spin mode it's making an absolute racket! Not in the sense that something is stuck in there, just ft super noisy all of a sudden. Should I change the spin speed for all my washes? Would this have an affect on how clean my clothes would turn out to be? Or is this a sign that it's on its way out. I live in a rented flat and it's an integrated washing machine so I know the prices of these are much higher than your free standing ones. Was thinking about buying washing machine cleaning tablets (yes, shock horror that I don't already do this) . Could it be a case of line scale build up? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks

I just want to prevent going to my landlord if I can fix it. I know she has to replace it / get it fixed if need be.

Drum fixings have gone, it's on it's way out. Not sure why you don't want to tell landlord, it's her problem not yours.

Yeah your bearings are shot.

Parts cost about £30 and a few hours of slightly sweaty labour to change them. But this is of course your landlords problem as pp said. They may just buy a new machine.

Bearings have gone, irrepairable on most modern washers so it'll be written off.

Report it ASAP, otherwise the bearings will start leaking oil on your clothes and eventually collapse completely

Mine's 2003 - we fixed it just fine with the help of youtube.

Ours had the bearings replaced as it was a newish machine, under guarantee and they refused to write it off without attempting to fix it first. It invlolved totally stripping it down and refitting it back together though. Ours sounded like a metallic scraping noise, what sort of noise is yours making?

Yes some sort of scraping noise. Landlord has the called the engineer to come out end of week. I'm scared to wash anything till then but I need too! Shall I chance a wash?

I still used mine up until it got fixed. The noise was bad but it still washed ok. I made sure I was in while it was on just in case it exploded though!
