any horizontal surface in our house seems to qualify as a dumping space. Drives me mad too.

Good luck.

I can't believe how much I got done. Threw loads out too and recycled/charity shopped some stuff.

There was 2 bags of dvds under the stairs and most of them are going. I picked out a few to ebay. One is a box set that I was thinking of putting in the charity bag but looked on ebay and it's going for around ÂŁ10. I need extra cash so put it on to sell. Plus I have so much going to the charity shop I don't feel too bad. Took in a load of stuff today. And will be back tomorrow :)

I wish I had a cupboard under the stairs Envy. I was going to get our joiner to build us one but we have so much to fork out. Buying a shower and need tiling done etc..

I keep chasing my dumping ground round the house. We have 2 fake cupboards (and the only real ones are kitchen units). if the fake ones were real it would solve many problems!

We're in the process of sorting out the loft too. It has stairs and is an extra room which we desperately need but is a bit too full to use as one at the moment. We can cut out holes in the eves and put on cupboard doors then hide camping stuff etc.. in those. Then ds1 can have it to chill out in escape from us Wink.

I can't wait to get to the charity shop tomorrow there's so much to go. We were going to have a car boot sale but not sure now? I'm sure we'll find plenty more stuff to sell at one anyway?

I have a dumping area in the bedroom where I chuck clothes that aren't dirty enough to go in the wash but I can't be bothered to put away. I think Flylady calls them hotspots.

What is a fake cupboard? doors on a wall with nothing behind it?

I'm not sure what a fake cupboard is either?

Dp and I's bedroom is lush at the moment only because he did it and we've managed to keep putting stuff away. I'm sort of keeping on top of the laundry which helps although it gets harder in winter as I hang dry, no tumble drier.

Holla what about trying a laundry basket just for those clothes?

My whole house is a bloody dumping ground - clean laundry is the worst though. I have finally bought a tumble dryer, its coming Friday and it's going in the wardrobe (box room was kindly turned into one by previous house owners!).

It was an idea I saw on Pinterest - someone had her washing machine and TD plumbed into her closet - hopefully drying stuff in there means it will get hung straight up and so not sit in piles on my bedroom floor for weeks days.

Oh that sounds great. If you stick to a regime you could get right on top of it. I covet your laundry closet Grin

It's mainly DH's laundry closet. He has about four times as many clothes as me.

Sorry, DS is disabled and the fake cupboards are doors which cover the radiators, for safety reasons. The radiators would have been in very shallow alcoves otherwise. They look like lovely cupboards but are the depth of a radiator - ie no depth! Grin

Trying not to have furniture sticking out from the walls is why there are no other cupboards and the bungalow aspect leads to no under-stairs cupboard.

I do try to remedy these aspects by constantly finding newer creative dumping grounds though!

Dp has loads more clothes than me too. Lots of shirts. I'm not much of a clothes horse tbh. If Gok Wan came here he'd pass out Grin

Ahh that makes sense Celestial. Do you have lots of high up cupboards then? We got http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/20135300/ this and put the boxes in, loads of room to tidy dump stuff. Plus they go on the wall, ours is high up.

Yes, Expedits are exactly what we have!

Also they now have newer cheaper door options for the Expedits - 10euro rather than 20 (I think because the doors are not gloss). So you can make "cabinets" as well as having boxes.

Best suggestion I saw on here was the poster who had a rail instead of shelves in her hot water tank cupboard so she could hang all the washing on its hanging and just transfer it to wardrobes when it dried.

Unfortunately our hot water tank is suspended so there isnt enough space above or below it to do that (this is a slightly strange house!)

Also there are so many wires i wouldnt dare DIY that job!

I didn't know you could get doors? Sounds good. Are you in Europe or Ireland Celestial? Good idea about the rail. I usually hang mine on a clothes horse next to the big radiator in the dining room. There seems to be a permanent lot hanging lately.

In Ireland. We have one Ikea, and its still a huge novelty here. If we can get doors, you can definately get a choice of doors! Even mirrored ones if you are lacking mirrors. And drawers, you can divide one section into two drawers.

CuriousMama · 26/09/2012 21:49

We have enough mirrors but doors sound a good option. We also have the big bookcase, it covers the dining room wall. I keep meaning to declutter it so I can get more things crap in the boxes.

CuriousMama I guess I could do that but then I would never put the clothes away and they would get crumpled! If I can see them I feel guilty and I have a hanging up session every 2-3 days...

Back on with it soon once I've walked the dog. It's never ending is it? And then there'll be Christmas so more stuff crap.
