Tea towel recommendations?

RecursiveMoon · 09/08/2012 11:32

I can't help thinking that I should have found some tea towels that I like by now.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I think I'd like some coloured ones, as there's nothing worse than slightly grubby white ones.

I just buy mine in Dunelm

I like the ones that don't need ironing

Oh, I don't iron them Grin. Not since MN taught me a thing or two.

Thanks, I'll check out CK ones, they'll go with my mugs and towels Blush. And there's a Dunelm Mill close to here actually...

Aw, the CK ones are a bit too flowery for me I'm afraid.

Good lord, tea towels are something I've never given a moment's thought to.

Mine are a mixture of hand-me-downs from my mum/grandma, pre-school fund-raisers (with the little drawings of each child), Christmas freebies from DH's company and a few others which have somehow found their way into my linen cupboard. I don't think I have ever been to a shop and bought a tea towel.

Yes, well washed Irish linen is tops. And expensive. After that, anything does. I wash mine by soaking them in the sink in a kettle of boiling water and Daz, which removes most stains, then dry on the line. This may well be the most houseworky thing I do,though1

I don't normally use dish towels cos I dishwash or drip dry stuff, however, for some reason I bought an etowel (www.e-cloth.com) dishtowel and it's amazing.

I've actually started to dry dishes (well you don't dry you just touch the plates etc with it and they dry). It's like I've discovered something new.

I would have got it at John Lewis or Lakeland and will buy another one on my next trip to UK

Ooh, Zhaghzhagh, I didn't know they made tea towels. I have a few e-cloths and they're very good. I may order some.

(Can't believe I'm now getting excited about tea towels) Grin

Hmm, I love E-cloth products! But I've had different tea towels from them before, and they felt horrible on my (admittedly dry) hands.

twonker, they're beautiful! But expensive! I'm liking the Emma Bridgewater ones too Smile.

Any very plain colourful tea towel recommendations? John Lewis have some but I'm not keen on the colours.

Cointreau, I have a random collection at the moment, but some of them don't really seem to actually dry anything Confused.

Poli-Dry. I'm amazed I'm the first to mention them, they are the bees knees. Thick and luxurious and just perfect. Got mine off ebay, £9 for 2 incl postage.

Recursive - I too have very dry skin on my hands and yes some cheap microfibre, polyester etc feels horrid. The e-cloth t towel doesn't do that at all.

recursive moon yes, they are works of art as well as tea towels! Good presents. Smile

Twonker, I missed your link first time. They are lovely - much too nice to dry dishes, I think they'd look lovely in a frame in the kitchen.

The ones I recommended at practical (yawn) not beautiful.

Twonker, I can't see which material the t-towels are made with, where do I find that?

PS Their cushions look great

Report
twonker · 11/08/2012 12:39

zagh zagh they are 100% cotton tea towels. I think some of the cushions are silk, others cotton.

Zaghzagh, the E-cloth tea towel that you linked to is very different to the ones that I have which feel funny on my hands. I wonder if I'd like it in person.
