Sorry for this, but does anyone know of a good, preferably eco friendly way to get rid of urine crystal formations on the front of the underside of the toilet seat. I seem to have a bit of a coral reef forming tere and as the only woman I know it's down to me (I'm blaming only ever getting the chance to have 2 wees a day!)
Any tips? Have tried scrubbing with ecloths, enjo mitt (both currently in wash - bleugh) and blasting with method wipes and spray. Would bicarb be appropriate or am I doomed to bleach and a toothbrush?
cheers

Ick!
Buy a new seat, they're quite cheap and then maintain the new one better with a daily clean with those flushable wipes.

take the seat off and soak in the bathtub with white vinegar in warm water?
other than that, a new seat costs about 10£.

I'm not sure it's down to you TBH. When DH and I had our own bathroom his loo seat had crystals not mine!

Urine crystals on the seat? Is that a real thing that can happen then? Couldn't it be down to the men weeing on the edge of the toilet and then the seat being put down on it? (trying to get you and your unusual wee off the hook)

eco friendly is to hack at it with something like old nail scissors, uneco is to blast it with some limescale remover

not sure exactly what you mean but when we moved in here the underside of our seat was disgusting Envy I searched for another but it's a funny shape and couldn't find one. Anyway it came up sparkly with jif & elbow grease

urine crystals? What are these things of which you speak?

crystals are rather pretty that is, if they are not stuck to the underside of the toilet seat.

I am a jeweler. Is there a market for urine crystal jewelry?

I am seeing gold rather than silver, a light setting....

Do they have special properties? Maybe you should keep them, they might have good vibrations?

On an Eco note, bleach is not bad for the environment. I would think that washing some cloths (energy from wash cycle) and use of wipes and spray would be worse than using some elbow grease, an old toothbrush and a dab of something that you need a tiny amount of and decomposes into salty water! :)

Have just crept upstairs to check for crystals. Can't find any, but my loo seat has definitely gone yellowish. Grrrrr bathstore it's only 12months old!

You could make some lovely drip drop earrings with those, Norks.

urine crystals????

now, i am a bit of a slattern, but i've never seen this before?!?!

I will send you some Aycabtm... but they might make the envelope smelly. Pm me your address

ok... when I say 'urine crystals' I mean a patch of pinkish hard stuff not more than 1mm deep on a wooden toilet seat but stubborn and resistant to massive elbow grease efforts (and method wipes, which are biodegradable and supposedly woven from yoghurt and the pubic hair of rainbow warrior shipmates spagbolagain)

I've never come across this phenomenon. Just leave them there and see what forms - you could then go up with a chisel and be creative, like ice-sculpting.

I am loving the thought of the urine crystal jewwllery line but if you decide to go down that path then a magic eraser will shift them. I just don't understand how they get there, i am a careful wee-er.

Eraser sponge recommended here too. It really is like magic :D. I leave a dedicated one for each toilet so I am not carrying them around.

Cutie/JS - Please can you tell me what a magic eraser sponge is? Thanks :)

Urine jewellery line now starting to be sketched out.

'U-ring' is shaped like a loo seat and even has a tiny hinge at one side
The 'pee-pendant' is fashioned from a single crystal carved in the shape of a series of droplets splashing
Earrings are gold with crystal droppers in the shape of tiny loo brushes
The bracelet is a copy of a genuine 19th century loo chain, with crystal charms

Any takers?

Apologies for the typos in my previous post. You can buy a magic eraser from various outlets (i think some pound shops sell them) but i found them at Lakeland.

TIY how on earth can you claim to be a slattern and then admit to wiping a toilet once a day? Shame on you Wink
