Curtains/blinds.. What do you have in your bedroom??

We have been using cheap paper blinds we got from Amazon since moving into our new home and now are finally getting around to thinking about curtains.

Need help deciding whether I just need blackout curtains or blackout blinds along with normal curtains. My thinking behind getting both is that the blackout blinds will be used at night when we need it to be dark and the curtains can be used during the day when we need some privacy but still want the light to come in.
However, DH thinks this will be too expensive and anyway why do we need to close the curtains during the day?? I do get his point.. Specially because we work full time and won't actually be home to use the bedrooms!

What do you have in your bedrooms??

Also we have a massive bay windows with the radiators just under the windows. Would it look too bad to get curtains that finish just above the radiators as opposed to full floor length curtains??

We have a big window in our bedroom and have just ordered white wood effect Venetian blinds and then will have curtains too. The blinds will largely be for a bit more privacy during the day, but also to help keep light out at night (so tilted open during the day and closed at night).

I'm having the same debate. Curtains I feel are cosier but blinds more practical I can't afford both so need to decide.

I have 2 windows in my bedroom (both non standard sized). 1 is large and arched, an extremely awkward shape for window dressing, the other is small and rectangular.

The large arched window has custom hardwood shutters (solid, not plantation). They are great for light reduction.

The small window has a custom Roman blind in a velvet fabric with blackout lining, fitted in the recess.

The room can easily be made very dark in bright sunlight, ideal for me as a shift worker.

Neither of my window dressing options were low budget choices, though.

We have blackout curtains only. I can't stand nets or blinds. I like to see out of the windows which are beautiful and overlook the green. We live in a well preserved conservation area and are set back off the main road so we get away with it. However if we had a street opposite with neighbours close by then I would have to put something else up. I love my windows and like to see them. Nets are awful and just a dust trap.

We have 2 large windows in our bedroom, with a lavender coloured blackout roller blind and a simple, off-white floor length cotton voile panel on each one. We live on a terraced street so the voile is needed for privacy all day but I like how they look too.

We have blackout curtains and nets. I don't like blinds at all. My husband prefers blinds though

I have a black out Roman blind. Our radiator is underneath the window & that's the only reason we got the blind. Our window is 2.7m wide & the previous owner had short curtains but they just didn't look right because of the width of the window.

Thanks all! We have decided to go with blackout curtains. At a later stage we may decide to add voile if we need the light and privacy... I am still undecided whether I love or hate voile :)

For the main bedroom we may have to go with Roman blinds because of the shape of the window and also because there isn't much space at the ends to gather up the curtains iyswim.
