You need to get your serum levels checked. That's your iron storage. My fbc wasnt too bad but my serum levels were really low. I feel a thousand times better after having high dose iron tablets after 6 weeks or so.

Are you pg? If so tis quite likely that your hb may have dropped in a month. Otherwise not so likely depending on what it was on your last FBC, can you remember.
If your bloods come back normal, then persist with the doctor to investigate, even if this is anxiety, tis best to know.

Hercules, what sort of dosage are you on?

Report
Iworryalot · 12/07/2009 15:16

Hi yes got some of that but only contains 5mg of iron i think so not a huge amount as the DRA is 14 or 18 i think , does it help ? do you take it ?

I was very tired. I kept getting dizzy spells, nose bleeds, wanted to collapse so I could have solid bed rest etc. My fbc was 11 and my ferris serum levels were 7.

I was told it would take about a year to get my iron levels to normal and 6 weeks (which it did) to feel better.

There are 305mg tablets?

I thought 200mg was the highest dose.

Report
hercules1 · 12/07/2009 15:33

No, I don't know why. They wanted to get the levels up first and then investigate. I felt dizzy just when sitting down. I also developed tinnitus and have nearly got rid of it.

I had to change tablets as first lot I took gave stomach upset but these I am now are fine.

hiya, yes I do, and it does help - I also know of people who have been told to take 3 sachets a day by their gp. Avoids the side effects of the prescribed stuff and aparantly you absorb more from the spatone than you can absorb from the tablets. But i'm not advocating taking more than reccomended on the packet without your gps advice.

, what will they do more blood tests i guess ?
do you have heavy periods ?
sorry so many questions ..

ooh thats interesting. I normally have a hb of about 10.5.
When got pg took 2 spa tone instead of 1 a day.
My iron levels dropped to 9.2 and they have now put me on ferrous fumerate 210mg twice daily which has left my poor bowel struggling even more
Wonder if I could take 3 spa tone instead??
