uneven boobs following breast reduction

As some of you know i had my breast reduction a few days ago. I'm really worried about a few things:

  1. one is quite a bit bigger than the other
  2. i have a blood clot under my arm where lipo was done
  3. nipples were reduced and are now nowhere near round.

Has anyone else who's has a reduction experienced this and did the problems get resolved?

I've no experience but I would think it could take a while for them to settle down. There are several MNers who have had reductions so hopefully they'll be along later

piffle had a breast reduction - search for her messages or CAT her?

you are only a few days post surgery
can you phone your surgeon?

is the blood clot like a big scab?

seeing surgeon again next week. the blood clot is a sort of egg shaped hard lump under my arm.

If it's a clot, you don't want it to thrombolise, see gp quick if you are certain it's a clot (how?) and not just post procedure swelling.

nurse at hospital said it was a heamatoma(same thing?) and it would reabsorb. surgeon saw it a couple of days ago too and said no need to do anything with it

I have not had mine yet
I think you get final results up to 6 months following surgery they can do a revision if they do uneven boobs you need to bang on and on
Was it NHS?
I refuse to have lipo as most breasts are not fat but tissue and glands and lipo can cause lumpiness and size issues. Tis a cheapskate way to minimise boobs from what I've heard
here there's an excellent forum for uk reductions if you search
What size were you and what did surgeon agree to make you?
How much size difference do you think there is?

it was done privately by a surgeon recommended by my gp. The lipo was for the fatty bits near my armpits. If i'd realised what could have happened with the lipo i wouldn't have had it done. I was a 34 g/gg and i would guess that one is now a dd/e and the other d/dd. There is quite a difference and i know it takes a while to get the final result but it's not encouraging at the mo and i just feel teriibly disappointed and self conscious about the difference in size. They were uneven before and the bigger one now used to be the smaller one!

ok so he is going to get you to wAit at least 3mths before committing to fixing it possibly 6mths for physical safety
They may settle down in a week or two
Try not to panic you will get there in the end
How is the pain?

Report
mymittens · 12/09/2008 14:48

The pain in my boobs is ok - far less than expected. More sort of tight and uncomfortable than pain. The pains from the haematoma under arm is worse and causes me to carry my arm at an angle so causing other pains! My main worry really is the uneveness in size. I'm scared to go though any more procedures due to the surgeon hitting a blood vessel with the lipo. Has really destoyed my confidence in him

thanks dashboard! was your blood clot in your boobs or from lipo near armpits? I think i'd rather have this clot drained to be honest but surgeon said it was best to leave it alone. I'm seeing him again in a few days so will tell him it's the clot which is causing me the most discomfort. Were yours lopsided and one bigger than the other after the op? How are they now? Would you mind me asking what size you went from and to? Sorry for all the questions - i just feel really disappointed with things atm

I had a reduction at xmas, was very happy but they were lumpy and uneven for quite a long time, was swelling they do a lot of fishing around in there, you are going to feel weird about it for some time anyway, it is a majopr op.
i went from a 34G to a 34 d was supposed to be a c and I was quite upset when i bought my first bra and realised they were vigger than I intended.
I now love them, i never think about them and my back pain is gone completly, you will be very sore for quite a while but after about 4 weeks it starts to get a lot better very quickly, mine still look a bit like frankenstein boobs but the scars are fading now, the biggest issue I hae is that I have what my surgeon refered to as a dog ear under my rigt arm. they did say they would remove it if I wanted but i don't really see the point.
Your feelings will change completly once the swelling has gone down, which can take months.

I couldn't look at mine for about two weeks after the dressings came off. I also thought they were oddly sized and the nipples looked a mess - now I really, really love them!

Why did he need to perform lipo? I'm sure my excess tissue was cut out. I would go to your GP if you are worried. I had a small infection that I left and it has left a bit of a scar - antibiotics sorted it out really quickly so I should have gone sooner.

Try not to worry - I didn't have my dressings off until a week after the op so I dread to think what they looked like after a few days. The size difference could simply be swelling. GIve it a few weeks at least.

He did a bit of lipo to get rid of the fatty bits near my armpits. He said this would improve the overall result. Were yours actaully a different size after the op or just uneven. One of mine is definately bigger, about a cup size bigger i would say
