Has anyone had Invisalign clear braces? How was it?

Currently coming to the end of my course. It's great for what it does but be mindful it can be a faff. You have to take your trays out before eating or drinking anything but water.

Thanks that's useful. I have had a consultation and I am told that they can achieve my desired results- overbite, midline shift and overall teeth symmetry.
What kind of things are you correcting and how long is your treatment? Would you mind telling me how much you are paying?
I was quoted £3500 both arches in the midlands.

On week 5 of my course.

Very painful at first, and then mild discomfort when a new set goes in.

I can see a difference already. My course should last 5 months.

£3600 all in including the consultation, filing and shaping and whitening at the end. I'm in London.

Following for interest. I’m also thinking seriously but have been quoted £3,800 for what I thought were quite minor alterations on both arches. They’re offering whitening at the end included but I’d hoped it would be more like £3k. Very keen on getting it done during a period of much less socialising and face to face contact at work but I’m not really in a position to spend the money right now.

This is exactly why I have decided to get it now. I work remotely half the time and when I am in work I have to wear a mask. So it will be hidden for a few months
In comparison I think my quote is competitive- mine includes whitening and 3 sets of Vivera retainers plus a follow up check up after 12 months.

Hmmm yes I think I need to get some more quotes to compare. One place I contacted wanted me to pay £30 to secure the booking of an online consultation via zoom which they couldn’t book in for three months They seemed surprised when I declined!

I had it last year. While it is expensive, my experience was that it is quick, easy and essentially pain free. Once you get used to popping the trays in and out for meals and drinks, which is a hassle, you just get used to it. I started in July, and was all done by January.

You have to continue to wear a vivera retainer at night, and I also had a wire put in behind my teeth so they don’t move back.

I’m so happy and pleased with the result though, my teeth look amazing and wiithout the crowding, so much easier to keep clean! Do it, you won’t regret it.

I am (hopefully) finally coming to the end of my course. I was told it would be 40 weeks (9 months) but I’ve now had them in for 16 months and still looking at a further month - mainly due to Covid as I didn’t have an appointment for over 6 months, but other delays were due to things like the orthodontist being in holiday - not major delays but if that happens a few times it can add a few weeks to the length of the course. Just be aware that it could end up taking longer than you’re initially told. I’m paying £3500.

It is also a big faff as the pp said. The only thing you can have with the trays in is cold water, so to eat and drink anything else you have to take the trays out then brush your teeth before putting them back in. This is ok if you’re at home, but having to brush your teeth in public toilets is not much fun especially as many toilets now don’t have any cold water taps! This can make it hard to rinse the trays as you can’t use hot water on them. It helps to carry a bottle of water around with you for this purpose.

I also found that the trays can make your mouth very dry which can feel quite uncomfortable towards the end of the day.

They were really uncomfortable when they first went in - your teeth hurt where they’re being moved but I also found my mouth got sore where it rubbed against the trays - this does go after a few days once your mouth gets used to them. As another pp said it’s also a bit painful each time you get a new set of trays as different teeth get moved. Be aware that on these days soft food is best as you might struggle with anything you’ve really got to bite!

I’m almost at the end of my course now and my teeth do look good. However, they also don’t feel quite as ‘secure’ in my mouth as they did before I started this. Some of the front bottom teeth now feel slightly wobbly which make me a bit nervous about trying anything really crunchy like an apple or a baguette. I expect once I get the final retainer wire on this will feel better though. I also find that my upper and lower front teeth don’t match up as well as they did before so I can’t bite down on anything small (e.g. biting on a thread if you don’t have any scissors handy).

So just be aware that depending how bad your teeth are it can take longer than you expect and you might end up with teeth that look great but feel more uncomfortable in your mouth than they did previously. While I can’t give a final verdict until I’ve completely finished the course and see how the fixed wire works, I’m not convinced I would do it again (although I do admit that my view is coloured by having been stuck with them 6 months longer than expected due to Covid which is nobody’s fault and hopefully won’t happen to you!)

Urgh, what a pain, chessie! Hope you finish soon. For me, that wobbly tooth feeling took a couple of months to go away, as the teeth settled into their new place.

Had mine for about 6 months. Really looking forward to being finished but also love wearing them as I feel my teeth look better with them in! I wonder if wearing them helps with my night grinding too. My bottom teeth are completely straight after 30 weeks. So easy

I had them, finished over a year ago now. I just had the bottom teeth done, cost me £2k. Would be £3k for both but my top set are ok so didn't bother. The first week the retainers cut my tongue up so bad, I was in a lot of pain. After that it was fine. It's amazing how much your teeth can move, they really are so wobbly for a while after. You have a metal wire put in behind permanently- mine pinged off straight away so they had to get a custom made Flexi one which has stayed in place even now. I think without it my teeth definitely would have moved back again. Here are my before and after photos:

I had Invisalign done about 8 or so years ago. So happy with the results! You get used to the trays pretty quickly and it becomes very little hassle very quickly! I had them for about a year, did top and bottom and have a permanent fixed retainer on both. If you have the spare cash to do it then go for it!

I had invisalgin and finished it about 4 years ago. It cost me just under £3000 for top and bottom teeth.

I hated it at the time and found the taking out to eat and drink difficult in the job I do. I also realised that I snack a lot! The first day I wore then my gums itched like mad but that stopped pretty quickly. They were not uncomfortable and noone knew I was wearing them. I did also have some "things" put on the outside of my teeth to add extra pressure I think but they were teeth coloured and not really noticeable. But do be aware you may have attacehments to your teeth.

However now my teeth are fab and probably my best feature
I do wear a retainer every night. I find it easier to wear evry night than alternate nights as they can get a bit tight.

I had an overbite that had been corrected as a teenager but they reverted back over the years. I am very glad that I had it done.

I had invisalign and finished my treatment in February of this year. Cost me £3000. Best decision of my life!

It can be a tad annoying taking them out to eat etc, but I always just swished well with water and then popped them back in if I wasn't near a sink. They were quite tight and painful to begin with, but you get used to it within days. Nobody could even tell I had them unless we were up close

I had a 7mm overbite that is now fully fixed, and my crooked bottom teeth are now perfectly aligned. I actually cried with relief.

I'm paying £3k and that includes whitening and the 3 sets of retainers at the end. I'm waiting for the fitting. Can't wait to get a started! Although i am nervous about having a lisp and how obvious it will be. I will have some of the nodules on the front of my teeth. The price will vary depending on many trays /moves you need. I am going with my dentist as I thought there would be more commitment from them to do a good job if I go there too for my other work / checkups. Definitely ask local face book groups for recommendations. I did and got some really good replies and info back. Good luck

At the age of 58 and having hated my very crooked, crowded teeth since forever, I finally decided to have Invisalign. It has taken 18 months and cost £3,800 to include both fixed and removable night-time retainers and follow ups over next two years. Tbh I didn’t find them painful at all, teeth felt loose and “weird” for first day or two and I had a few aligners that had rough bits on them (which I filed smooth with emery board). It is a commitment though - you absolutely must wear for 22 hrs a day. I am finishing this week 🥳 and don’t regret it for one bit. Only wish I could’ve afforded it years ago.

My dd has just started with Invisalign, she's on Week 1. All ok so far, her teeth are a bit sore and one section of the tray is rubbing against her gum.

Family meals are a bit of a pain as she has to rush through and then clean her teeth and put her trays back in.

But the results will be worth it!

Oh lord.... so on Friday I had the bit done where they place “fixers” on your teeth to keep the braces in place. They file at your teeth to do this and it’s supposed to be fine... but I had historically receding gums and sensitive teeth in parts anyway. Every day cleaning my teeth on those spots is so sensitive !!! I’m guessing this doesn’t get easier? Enamel doesn’t seem to come back. Has anyone had lasting sensitivity issues with Invisalign?
