Can you recommend a tonic that will increase my energy levels?

I'm really struggling with my energy levels. With part time working and 2 small children I struggle to do anything in the evening other than sit on the couch and eat rubbish. I already take a multivitamin but wondering if some sort of tonic might help too. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Floradix Iron with added vitamins is good. Quite expensive but worth it for getting yoru energy back. A cheaper version is Feroglobin tonic made by Boots chemist.
I swear by D-Lux vitamin D spray. It has transformed my energy levels

Swig of metatone every now and then helps me, if it doesn't I love the taste anyway.

I second floradix! Branded multivitamins just don't cut it if you're at a low ebb. You need to consider upping your iron levels, vitamin D and B vits (esp B12). A GP would normally check your iron and ferritin levels for unexplained fatigue, if you go down that route I'd also ask for vitD and B12 tests.

Metatone! Just mind when you tell people you use it though. I mentioned it to my mum. She thought I said methadone 😂😂😂

Floradix here too - helped to get me off iron infusions some years ago and I have been hooked ever since!

Thanks all, I might pick up a bottle of each and alternate and hopefully I'll be sprightly again in no time!

I know it seems easier to take a supplement but it's a diet change that's needed, which I'm sure you know in your heart of hearts. I know it's easier said than but it will change everything honestly. Body fuel!

Metatone is like a shot of energy for me.

2 sachets of spatone a day makes a difference to my general energy levels.

Also, exercise & sleep.

Have you seen your GP to check that there isn't an underlying reason for your tiredness?

Red Bull and flapjack did it for me.

This is just the thread for me.

Literally at the end of my teather with my tiredness everyone is getting sick of me.

Ive been to the doctors and had every blood test done and iron a little low but im pretty sure it wouldnt make me this exhausted. If i dont have a power nap thats it for the day im in pieces my legs ache and i feel fluey.

Even tho i had a 2hr sleep today right now i could cry with how tired i am.

Going to try these

Detritus it's hard to get the right levels of Vit D and iron from food if your body's reserves of them are already dangersouly depleted. I have a healthy diet but really need these additions - they've made all the difference.

What's your diet like? What do you eat and drink on a typical day?

It could be that you're eating too many carbs and relying on too much caffeine.

I have a healthy diet but really need these additions - they've made all the difference. Yes, I can see your point. I've been hearing a lot recently about that a lot of people may be low in Vit D, got me a bit paranoid to tell you the truth, I was looking at all the Vit D supplements in Boots but got overwhelmed by the choice Shock
Do you have a theory on why this phenomenon is happening particularly at this present time? Especially within people on reasonable diets.

Thanks for all the recommendations. Off to local health food store tomorrow to pick these up. And tonight I managed to get the energy to go for a short run and haven't eaten any rubbish which is a major achievement for me! Will see how long it continues and will report back if I become all zippy once I start on my tonics.

Tonic as in singular OP Grin, you need to choose something and give it a go. Don't double up/overdose.

It is very difficult to get vit D from diet alone. You need sun and it is not strong enough until the end of this month. This time of year, you are on the last of your reserves.

Get a 25ug/1000iu spray for use over the winter every year.

Yes, we spend far more time indoors these days. People used to work on the land, in their gardens, walk to and from work or school for an hour or so each day. Now we jump from the house into the car and often spend less than 15 mins outside on bad weather days. So our bodies don't get the chance to process vitamin D. But it has always been a problem. Kids used to get rickets which I think is caused by Vit D deficiency.

My mum has a friend who was a GP. She retired about 10 years ago, but she used to say that Rickets was on the rise. She put it down to sunscreens in moisturisers and anxious parents slathering their children in sunblock all day from March to October.
