No, I'm 99% sure that the Xbox One isn't backwards compatible.

You'd need to buy an Xbox One version, when it's released.

I'm out with a banging headache though, so I'd wait for someone to confirm!

Ds hasn't got a 360 .. But all his mates have and he's pretty much getting an xbox to play minecraft .. So if it's not out for Christmas then that's a pretty dud present

Xbox One games will cost around £50.00 RRP, though, so it you find one it may well cost quite a bit more!

game is letting you preorder the minecraft game for the xbox one but they dont know when it will be ready or what the price will be. You might be a as well getting the xbox 360 plus mineceaft and leave upgrading until sometime in the future. We aren't getting the new xbox but dh wants the new PS4 which also will not play old games.

I think I'm just going to get the xbix360 & get a 2nd hand kinect sensor from game rather than shell out for the new Xbox one.

I'm not even sure what the new one will do.

Basically ds wants to play Minecraft & dd will play the occasional dance game. That's all.

There is a new Xbox 360 out with updated graphics/processors. The 360 E. Here
Microsofts official position is that the 360 will be stopped in 3 years and support for it another 4-5 years after that.

The One is not backwards compatible yet and if it will be, it may only be cloud based not disc based which may cause problems in verifying who owns the game (in regards to preowned).

At the moment they still use a 2nd hand PS2.

Anyway, i think MS have made a big mistake here. My son has been a die hard xbox 360 fan but him and a lot of his friends have decided to switch to the Playstation because it's cheaper, you don't have to buy the Kinect with it and since it's not backwards compatible, there's no reason he shouldn't. Plus and MS's seemingly dodgy position on used games, even though they've backtracked, the damage has been done.

My DD 11 got an Xbox 360 for her birthday and it is adequate for Minecraft. She is thrilled with it.

I personally wouldn't waste money on an Xbox One if your DCs are after the basics.

If it helps, I saw Xbox 360's in ASDA last week for £99. They are only 4mb, but I am sure that would be fine?

Alternatively, there are a few Xbox 360 Minecraft bundles available.
