Bamboos for screening

Hi, I've bought a few as my neighbours new fence is too low and it's been a horrible summer with them constantly peering over.

The problem is the spacing. Although I've bought three they've got to be planted with lots of space around them so that the roots grow. Which means I have gaps and barely any screening effect.

Does anyone know how quickly they will grow taller and more importantly will they grow wider?
Thank you

Well evetually they will grown wider. My Bamboos tend to put up lots of culms in the spring and they will grow to over 6ft within months. I'm not sur bamboo planted now will put up the big shoots, you may have to wait till spring.

Could you put some in pots (so therefore movable) for the time being in between planted ones ?

Our neighbour is a peeper too so we put up some 6 foot bamboo trellis our side which gives us a bit of privacy and planted hedging but that will take a while to grow.

Thank you. Yes forgot to mention that they are in large pots not in the soil

Mine are in very large pots, doing the same job. They grow from spring through summer. They like a lot of water and the occasional feed, I use tomato feed.
They can take a bit of a bashing in a harsh winter, but soon recover.

There's a bamboo fertiliser on Amazon UK. I've not used it myself (thinking of getting it for my bamboo) but the reviews look good.

"Bamboo Liquid Fertilizer HighTech NPK for bamboos and grasses" sold by Green24

I must admit Ive only ever used Tomota feed on everything in the garden. I used to dilute it in the water but

Yes tomato feed I’d fine and cheap at Wilkos. If you look at the ingredients there often the same as more expensive makes.
The only exceptions I make are ericaceous feed and a top dress of rose feed in the spring.

Can you get some bamboo screens? We got some from homebase and were amazing for privacy.

I think you should try MGP Bamboo fencing because it is made with 100 % bamboo to give you an eco-friendly product. The screen is very delicate with nylon coated wire to join the single slots of bamboo. If you love nature, you would like its natural color that looks tropical for your outdoor décor. So, the bamboo outdoor privacy screen is available at a suitable price and length.
