I have some weird garlic, can I eat it?!

I have pulled my garlic out early as the leaves all withered and I wanted to salvage what I could but now I have peeled it, something really odd has happened! My garlic is all in one massive bulb, each 'garlic' is just a big hard garlic blob, no cloves /segments Confused

I feel a bit odd about it, like its alien garlic or something - can I still eat it?

Is it actually an onion?

Is it wet garlic? Sort of looks like a big spring onion, but smells like garlic.

Here. It smells like garlic, the lines on it look garlicky and it's really dense so I don't think it's an onion? There aren't any layers as far as I can see.

Looks like 3 cornered leek, edible.

Just looked up wet garlic, the stalks were really thin and not anywhere near as thick or green as the pictures I saw.

Looks like wet garlic where the individual bulbs have not yet formed. It will probably be great to eat!

Goodie, I will go and chop it up and stick it in the freezer! Thanks!

Sometimes garlic does that. Still perfectly fine to eat. Usually a sign of a warm winter.

Lidl sell single-clove garlic - it's really rather nice, and easier to chop than the usual Chinese garlic you get from supermarkets, which has tiny cloves. I'm envious of your garlic-growing prowess!

Grin !

I can grab great scoops of it and sneak it into the kids dinners now!
